Wolsung Ash & Oak – Mary Fearless

What a nice change! There were lots of rats recently in blog. Skaven this, Skaven that. Skaven everywhere. Wow, you probably won’t believe me I have plenty of other miniatures from various systems to paint, and therefore to play some day (read: as soon as I paint them:). But for some unknown reason I’ve concentrated all my efforts on on Skaven in recent days. I’ve finished my around 1250 points army in the beginning of June, and that should be enough. I should start painting something else, but right before every upcoming battle, I had this thought in my mind: oh, I must use this miniature, or this one – it’s the last one –  no more. And right now, we have end of July and I’m still painting mostly Skaven… but now I promised myself (again) – that’s it. No more…I’ve cut out, primed and magnetised Blood Angels Terminators and they are ready… but right after that, I got the message from my friend asking me for re-match against his Empire – and I’ll be …

Battle Report – Wolsung: Ash and Oak vs The Inventors

Last week I had great weekend in Gdańsk, north of Poland, right on the coast of Balitc Sea. Despite the weather conditions I had wonderful time there. As always, when I visit some new place I try to contact and meet local wargaming community…but this time all was exceptional… When me and my wife have confirmed the exact date of our visit at Baltic Sea, I got this idea to write an e-mail to Micro Art Studio, producer of Wolsung Steampunk Skirmish Game, which HQ is located in Gdynia (it’s very close to Gdańsk) – all in the same metropolitan area. I could not missed that chance to visit them – being so near. Imagine my surprise I got positive response and they invited me to Micro Art Studio and agree for small interview with the boss (I even conducted two interviews, but about this later:)… …I also got the opportunity to play small game of Wolsung with one of the game creators  – Łukasz Perzanowski. Oh, I got super exited! In fact, we have …

Wolsung Ash & Oak – ready to play: Bruiser and Butlers

That’s it! I’ve done it today! I’ve finished my minimum of models needed to play Wolsung with my Ash & Oak faction!. Two heroes and four henchmen. They are ready for my tutorial game I’m going to have this Friday. My faction right now include: Lady Ellendeanne Sir Zachary Fiercebatten III ( and two hound dogs) Abinav Singh Bruiser Butler with Umblerra Butler with Plate I received my printed hardback copy of Wolsung rules last week and finally I had some chance to study them carefully. Even though they are available for free to download, I prefer to have printed release to read – it’s easier for me to sit right back with the book in my hands, and totally focus on the content. And what I was able to read so far – the rules are really simple to make a quick start. Simple, but not naive – options and special rules for factions give the player lots of different alternatives ways to go on with the game. It’s possible to try several approaches …

My Wolsung faction is growing strong! – Abinav Singh

Ok. I finally got great resin bases from Micro Art Studio and I can continue to paint miniatures, but right now I have proper measures to finish most of them completely (it means I finally have bases for them, yay:). In upcoming few days I have two appointed battles of Warhammer Fantasy Battle (still 8th edition) and the game of Wolsung Skirmish Game. For WHFB I justneed to finish few more models  – but nothing fancy or demanding (Assassin and Doomwheel). My bigger concern is about Wolsung game… Next Friday I’m going to learn how to play Wolsung and I want to make a demo or tutorial game with my own painted and based miniatures. I have printed version of the rulebook – I had quick read trough it – and I can say rules are easy but appealing. The game should be fast and exiting. I don’t have any clue if it’s true and how the rules going to work in actual game – time will tell. All I know, I’m going to learn …

Sir Zachary Fiercebatten III and his Bassets – Wolsung again

Time is running fast. It has been over a week since I write the last post. On the one hand -I’ve been busy. Work, family, hobby – lots of different stuff. On the other hand  – no excuses. This break is way too long. It cannot happen again. I find this blog as a great self-motivating tool and it will be updated more often. It’s just necessary and fun thing to do. Ok. Long story short. Today I’ve played my first Warhammer Fantasy Battle game with my entire Skaven army painted. And this is one of the reasons (or even the main reason) I had a very little time to update my blog. I’m not talking about preparing sneaky clever Skaven tactics for last two weeks of course. I was just super busy with painting those damn rats (the swarm is never ends, you know) before the battle. I made it and finally I managed to play the game, for the first time in my life – with all miniatures painted by myself (super proud:). …

Lady Ellendeanne from Wolsung Skrimish Game ready!

Finally in Europe. First I’ve been in Madrid for 6 days in Ibis Budget Hotel. Ibis is almost second home for me – I was using Ibis Hotels network so many times and the decor of the room everywhere is the same. You feel kind of relief, when you enter the room, wherever you are it’s similar – like I wrote second home:). Just few days there and we were headed to Warsaw. What’s the best in Ibis Hotel, the light in the room is perfect for painting miniatures. During the day – big window, so the room is floodlit with sunlight. And the evening – finally some accurate lamp over the desk. It was perfect prelude to my stay in Poland, where I finally can arrange most optimal conditions. I hadn’t much time to paint last week – I never been in Madrid before, so beside work – me and my wife decided to do some sightseeing. Of course it was perfect excuse to visit two wargaming stores there (about this – next time). …
