Battle Report: Warhammer 40k – Blood Angels vs Raven Guard (2000 points)

And the next battle report here. Warhammer 40000. My Blood Angels (once again) versus Raven Guard (commanded by my friend Miłosz). 2000 points. Game played as a part of ‘Fading Suns of Corinth Sector’ campaign. Unfortunately not all models were painted (especially on my side. shame on me), but I joined this campaign to train my Wh40k skills and I was so eager to do it, so I skipped my ‘only painted models’ resolution. Well, it was a choice:  this or I should wait another year or two (by looking at my progress in painting Warhammer 40000 miniatures). This is the last report with unpainted models. No more. Time to implement more strict policy. 2017’s resolution. The game was played in October 2016 in Faber Hobby Store in Warsaw, Poland. Scenario – Relics Gravity distortions and launch of next Necron generators had significant influence on the weather and tectonic movements. The whole continent were struck by terrible storms, strong winds and earthquakes. Each of the factions were after the answers, helping to understand those anomalies, …

Battle Report: Warhammer 40k – Blood Angels vs Imperial Guard (1250 points)

Another battle report. This time I’m back to Warhammer 40k universe to lead my Blood Angels against forces of Astra Militarum run by my friend Janek. We played in Warsaw hobby store: Bunkier. The battle itself was the part of ‘Fading Suns of Corinth Sector‘ campaign I joined to practice my Warhammer 40000 skills.  My army is not ready to be played yet. Majority of models are not painted and there shouldn’t be presented on the tabletop in any way. However, I thought if I would play in this campaign, I can made a painting challenge out of it. Simple one. Between the battles add some more painted models to the fielded force. Each battle – more and more. And eventually in final battle, The Blood Angels will be fully painted. Unfortunately, life writes different scenarios, and I got distracted by other miniatures, and I completely abandoned The Space Marines. It happens to me all the time. Too many cool models to be painted,no way to concentrate on one army… and therefore, I failed my …

Battle Report: Warhammer Fantasy Battle 5th Ed. – Skaven vs Khorne Daemons (2000 points)

It was quite some time since last Warhammer Fantasy Battle Report. I believe my last battle was in June or something…? Long time no see, right? So, there another one. This time my Skaven facing creatures of pure Chaos – Daemons of Khorne, The Blood God, lead by The mighty Bloodthirster in flesh and blood (mostly blood, I presume:). My opponent – Michael is truly devoted to 5th edition, so we understand each other perfectly. Thank you for the game! We played in Bunkier, friendly local hobby store (Warsaw, Poland). The game rules – 5th edition (2000 points). My favourite one. When rules were simple and fun:) For purpose of this game I changed my army list a bit. Recently painted Lord Sklork was elevated to the rank of the general. The army is not pure Pestilens army – not enough models for that, but let’s assume – Clan Pestilens is  rich. They have plenty of warp tokens to rent Stormvermin or hire Grey Seer on Screaming Bell, right? Next time though – pure Pestilens. …

Battle Report: Wolsung – Ash & Oak vs The Inventors

Well, things get little bit slow here once again. Too much stuff occupied my mind recently. Plus I got involved into organisation of first Polish Oldhammer Weekend (and this was time consuming). Meantime I was in Spain and Japan. And finally I prepare to hit the road again… So, sum of small things gave this blog little lag one more time. And pile of stories to be written and published is growing. No time for whining then – I better speed up with everything. Writing AND painting. So without further ado – next story coming your way. Today – another Battle Report – Wolsung game – my Ash & Oak vs Inventors (led by Dorota). The game was plyed in FGB Store in Warsaw. I played this game about 2 months ago, while I was in serious Wolsung  run. I was just after Wolsung 2. edition Inauguration Weekend and driven by ongoing excitement, I was in need for more games. So, just two days after a weekend I had the opportunity to play, so I …

Battle Report: Wolsung – Ash & Oak vs the Inventors vs The Triad

Aaagh, and another ‘long time, no write’ break in the blog. Of course, I could try to explain myself and I would find a few good excuses (like: I was out on two weeks road trip in Germany and France:), but it’s not the point. The thing is I have still a few stories to write and I should do this no matter what. Vacations? Please… that can wait – neglected blog should never happen. So, without further excuses – back to work. Time to get this thing back on track! Today, I have for you another battle report. This time – Wolsung Steampunk Skirmish Game. The game I played at the beginning of June in Warsaw’s Gentlemen’s Club and what’s really special about this – it was the skirmish between three players. Tomek, Paulina – thanks for great game! I played with my Ash & Oak vs Triad of Lotus Dragon (Tomek) and The Inventors (Paulina). No alliances. Everyone vs Everyone. Two heroes game. Scenario will be explained later in the text. Background Annual …

Battle Report: Infinity – Bakunin Nomads vs CA Morats (200 points)

Last month was crazy busy for me. Work, family, partying at weekends…you know usual stuff… and because of that, I had absolutely minimum time that to spend to give some love to the blog. Shame on me, I’m aware of that. …from now on – I say – enough! I have plenty of collected material to write, and I need to catch up with all this stuff. And it’s actually cool, because I really miss that:). Today I have for you tiny battle report from my Infinity game I played few weeks ago in Warsaw’s wargaming Gentlemen’s Club. It was my second game of Infinty- so it’s full of my simple rookie mistakes. And my opponent – Zippy Lapdos was unmerciful tutor, he ground me like a road roller. I don’t complain though. I was prepared for that – the idea was to be beaten, but learn the rules and tricks will help me in next games. So, big thanks to Zippy for patience while playing with me. I also would like to apologize for …

Battle Report: Warhammer Fantasy Battle 5th Ed. – Skaven vs Vampire Counts (2000 points)

Another Battle Report is finally ready. No time to update the blog as often as I would wish to, but battle reports are must. I love to do this, and no matter my recent busy schedule, I always find some spare moments to write at least few paragrpahs. For me, this is probably most enjoyable part of Game of Travel, so with this, there’s no way I would made a break. And now I’m back, once again, to 5th edition to Warhammer Fantasy. I have the biggest sentiment for this, and it’s still have the vibe, that, I think, newest editions lack. I know, I’m in minority. Gamers, these days, find older editions of WHFB as something vintage with obsolete rules and strange miniatures.  Understandable, considering that 5th edition is 1990s thing. However, still there are plenty of oldtimer enthusiasts in the area, and I’m able to find new opponents, play the battles and go on with reports. Next one – against Michał and his 2000 points of Vampire Counts. Played in the local friendly …

Battle Report: Warhammer FB 8th Ed. – Skaven vs Chaos Dwarfs (2000 points)

Finally! After quite some time, next battle report is coming your way! The thing is, June and July will be pretty busy months for me.  Load of work and weekend excursions. And there’s no way I can play, paint or write as much as I would like to.  To be honest, I’m again in hotel right now (Vienna this time), and as nobody will bother me at weekend with any work related issues, I grabbed this opportunity, sat down and started to write next post for my blog. And as said at the start – battle report. Good old Warhammer Fantasy Battle. Getting back to 8th edition after a while. And I have the coolest opponent possible for my Skaven Army – Chaos Dwarfs (using Legion of Azgorgh rules from Forgeworld’s Tamurkhan book). I find Chaos Dwarfs as one of the most fascinating army to play or face against.  I started to collect Chaos Dwarfs myself (with intention to made 5th edition army list though), so this battle was pretty exciting event for me. Hope …

Battle Report: Malifaux – Neverborn (Lilith) vs Arcanists (Kaeris)

In recent post I presented impressions I had from my first games of Malifaux. My final overall performance (without mentioning the final results;) was, let’s say, at least mediocre. Learning the rules, abilities and action – it all will take time to get it right. …but I wasn’t discouraged at all. Quite opposite. I wanted more. Opportunity occurred few days after ‘Hunt for Soulstone’ event, when I had the chance to stand against official Henchman – Rafał, and his Arcanists. It may was like thrown in at the deep end, but what a hell! There is no better way to learn the game, than by getting heavy beating. No new models on my side – Lilith and Pandora with some additions, but my options are still limited. I will get to painting Malifaux soon, and my faction will grow, but for now – it is what it is. We played 50 Soulstones game and we used new Strategies and Schemes Pool. Deployment: Flank Strategy: Guard The Stash Schemes: Convict Labor, Take Prisoner, Leave Your Mark, …

Malifaux – Gentlemen’s Game

Malifaux is sticking in my head for quite some time now (along with few other games, obviously). While most of my hobby life turns around Games Workshop products, I assumed, it’s nice to diversify and get in few skirmish games as well. Malifaux seemed to me as one of most natural choices – it expands rapidly in Warsaw and generally in Poland. Many veteran gamers gave up their hope on ‘good old’ Games Workshop and picked up Malifaux. …and I’ve been watching Malifaux for over a year now, started collecting around June 2015, painted first Master with the crew (Lilith) in September 2015 and finally had my first, introduction game also in September 2015. Later, I had a break due of my journey across the Asia. And actually I was pretty close to play Malifaux while visiting Jakarta in December 2015, but it was rather busy time for me so whole idea for it failed… …but on the plus side I managed to paint Pandora and her crew, and now I have two Neverborn Masters …
