Goblin Trader, Madrid aka Land of Plenty (WOW!)

At the beginning of May I’ve been in Madrid for 5 days. It was our short stop between Mexico and Poland. As we never have been in Madrid, we’ve done lots of sightseeing with my wife, but as you can probably imagine my thoughts were concentrated on something completely different. For the first time since October 2014 I was in the city with so many shops, clubs and generally wargaming communities scattered around. After long stay in Central America and Mexico, Madrid seemed to me like a promised land. The best what I could get during that tine were few gaming shops in Mexico City, but comparing to European shops, their offer is limited. So, I was really anticipating the visit in a hobby store in Madrid, especially few of my paints were out, and also I was crying in despair for new brushes. I knew I don’t have too much time (I would be happy to visit all of places on wargaming map of Madrid:) and I need to choose at most two. My …

Warhammer 40k in Tuxtla Guiterrez

About two months ago, we (me and my lovely wife:) bought flight tickets back to Europe. 3th May we are flying to Madrid, and week later back to Poland for next 6 months. When I was looking at the map of Mexico – I’ve arranged our trip like that – Mexico City – Oaxaca – Tuxtla Gutiérrez – Palenque – and finally Cancún (we have the flight from there). It was obvious for me I have to find some shop or wargaming club somewhere on the route. With handy help of  war games hobby map of Mexico: http://heribertohobby.com/mapa-del-hobby-en-mexico/ , I knew I could contact some people to talk, to see some battle or to play hopefully. According to the hobby map, the only club on the our way to Cancún, was Warhammer 40k Chiapas Club, in Tuxtla Gutiérrez (Chiapas State capital city). So, it was settled, after I got in touch with the guys from the club – we decided to stay for some time in Tuxtla, that I could get some mini action:). I had very …

Blood Angels assemble!

The title could be misleading. I have this Blood Angels Terminator Librarian assembled already about a week ago. I won’t be writing about boxing out and gluing Blood Angels minis (at least not in this post;). You know, my Space Marines: Blood Angels Chapter is going to be assembled again. Back in the days, I think, it were late 1990s I had nice army with several Blood Angels units – few tactical squads, two terminator squads, two assault squads. Death Company of course, and few heavy, heavy tanks – I don’t remember what kind though. It’s all blurry – the memory of my beginning with Warhammer 40k is so misty. It was the time of 2nd edition – the rules were much more different than right now and Blood Angels and Dark Angels had one codex called Angels of Death. I played only few battles with my BA, I even tried 3rd edition rules ( I was one of many complaining about new rules – I could never adjust my way of thinking for all …

Finally! Warhammer Shop (in Mexico).

Last week I have visited two wargaming shops in Mexico City. About first visit in ‘El Duende’, you can read in one of the previous posts from February 2015. Even though, I was enjoying ‘El Duende’ so much – I met fantastic people so passionate about Warhammer 40000 – it wasn’t  very fruitful for me personally as a collector.  I was in need of new brushes, new Citadel Paints, and most of all – new minis. And there was nothing for me. My list of unpainted miniatures (dated 20.02.2015): two Skaven Stormvermins (metal 5th Edition) one Island of Blood Plastic rat Ogre Wolsung Skirmish Steampunk Game Oak & Shield Lady Ellendeanne Wolsung Oak & Shield Sir Zachary Fiercebatten III with his hounds Not so much, as you can see. I will be travelling across Mexico for about 2.5 months. I needed more models to paint. And, you know, I’m addicted to it – I need to do this as often as possible. Preferably every day for at least 1-2 hours. Some days I’m able to …

Wargaming Shop Experience in Mexico, DF, part 1

I’m having nice time in Mexico City. I met ‘long time no see’ friends, I ate some nice food and of course I painted. I’ve finished Skaven Ratling Gun (I will upload photos later) and I’m about to finish my last batch of Skaven Stormvermin ( I need just few more hours). Mexico City is also most important place for me, when it comes to my painting/travelling enterprise. During last two months, my brushes became a disaster, few of my Citadel paints ran out, and what most important – I have only few miniatures left to paint. Definitely not enough minis for remaining time in Central America (3 months). I desperately need some hobby shop around. And it happens that Mexico City is only place on my way, where such shop exists. Actually I found four shops in Mexico, District Federal area (thank you, Google!). I wanted to visit them all, but due to the lack of time, I was able to check only two of them. First shop I visited is called ‘El Duende’. …
