Travelling Miniatures 2019

The time passed so quick… it was almost like a blink of an eye… January, February and… boom! March already and I have to come back to Europe… 2,5 months later and here I am again. My beloved, but cold and rainy Warsaw… (at least I managed to escape most of the winter). As usual, half of my backpack was filled with miniatures, paints, brushes and other hobby related essentials. I even found the place for a tube with photo backdrops and a tripod for a camera. For real, if not the hobby stuff I dragged along, my luggage would be half as big as my current one. …but, who cares, right? Miniatures are big part of my life, and I couldn’t imagine a break from hobby for 2,5 months. This time we headed to Vietnam, and spent there most of the time here. It’s easy life here. We find a nice area to hang, comfortable hotel and we set up our camp for couple of weeks at least. And everything is just a breeze. …

Oldhammer Weekend Poland 2019 (20-22.09.2019)!

That’s right folks! The date is set! …and like I mentioned in previous post – this year we change the idea a bit. The Oldhammer Weekend Poland goes back to Warsaw. First, it’s going to be three day event so we will have more time to play (20-22.09.2019) Second, we diversify. Beside focusing solely on Warhammer Fantasy Battle, we are going to present various different games to play. And I mean some true old school stuff (like RT or WHFB 2nd and 3rd editions), and some more Middlehammer action – Necromunda, Mordheim or Warmaster. Third, I registered a site to finally mange this event in proper way. So, this way, I can finally hold necessary information in one place. Right now, there’s a very basic information, but it’s going to change. Plenty stuff will be added – like a plan of weekend games or full desciption of each gameplay. All in a due time. Click the link: http://oldhammer.pl for details. Fourth, We got this awesome logo designed by super talented artist – Mustafa Bekir. Check …

3rd Polish Oldhammer Weekend (20-21.10.2018) report

This is something! 3rd year in a row we’re doing this. And it’s still kicking! Polish annual Oldhammer Weekend. This time we moved to Katowice to Inny Wymiar gaming store and club (eng. Another Dimension) for two days (20-21. October 2018). This is really huge deal for me, being part of it. And despite, it’s not entirely Oldhammer /ruleswise, minitureswise), the weekend is always something huge and worth to wait entire year for it. During the weekend we play Warhamer Fantasy 5th edition. Whole weekend is dedicated to it – several scenarios, organised in a campaign. With such approach – the games are handled to the players by the organisers. Restrictions – such as WYSIWYG or friendly reminder that we are adults and we should have all our minis painted (no exceptions!) shouldn’t be things to worry about… But, some folks in Poland still think Warhammer is not about making your armies fancy, and they want to play with pure lead or plastic. On this event we would like to remind everything what’ s exactly …

Go west, go east…

That was a quick one😊 Yup, 40 days abroad is really short time actually. You just think it’s going to be forever and, all of the sudden, next week your flight back to Europe is due to departure. Thailand for the last 5 years, happened to me to be as sort of second homeplace. I’ve been there (if counting all trips together) 8 months in 7 separate visits. Awesome weather, friendly people, and amazing food. I could stay here for a really, really long time. And what’s equally important – the conditions for miniature painting are adequate. With me new USB rechargeable LED lamp, the job is really easy now. Even when jet-lagged, and awaken at 3 am, I cant turn the light on and get into painting real quick, without disturbing my lovely wife. This lamp is a real gamechanger. I just wonder, why I needed so many years to finally get myself one. Lesson to be learnt: if someone tells you a good advice –  do not hesitate, just go for it. I …

Personal projects tab

For the last couple of years I was working on a few personal projects of mine. And some of them are at certain stages of completion. So, instead to write several posts with the pictures and full description – I decided to set up separate tabs on the header menu. Each tab will lead you to the site about one of my projects. Pictures and background story. It’s going to be all there. Gathered in one place and easier to find. For starters – My Warhammer Fantasy Altdorf army. Here’s the link. Of course , it’s an on going thing. There are so many miniatures in my storage still waiting to be painted and I plan to do so. Next in line to cover are: Imperial Fists for Warhammer 40000 and Chaos for Warhammer Fantasy. I’ll inform you about any updates in separate posts. Cheers!

Bring Out Your Lead 2018 report

I should write this a long, long time ago. Around August, right after the BOYL, I guess. As always though, I procrastinated a bit, I thrown myself into other stuff and one thing leads to another and there’s December all of the sudden, and the review of the best annual Oldhammer event is not done yet… Better late than never, they say… so here it is. My review of Bring Out Your Lead Oldhammer Weekend 2018. The Weekender was held at Foundry grounds near Newark-on-Trent, UK (3-5th August) and it was my 2nd time I had the chance to be there /not the last for sure!/ Oh, man that was awesome. The echo of the weekend still, even after a few months, ringing in my head. The lads, miniatures, games. That was wicked! And the next edition is in 8 months or so, and I’m already involved in BOYL preparations. I think, my life’s cycle has changed permanently. Every years will be divided into to parts – pre and after – BOYL. …but back to …

On the road again!

[I actually wrote most of this post Friday lat week, but the last couple of days were super crazy and I had a very little spare time to finish and publish it. Right now, I’m in Bangkok, Thailand in a lovely hotel, planning my next move here:)] Just a few days and I change scenery again. I say good bye to chilling, depressing Polish fall. Thailand will be the place for me for the next 40 days. Leaving this Sunday:) I don’t have any specific plans yet. Two things I know for sure. I will enjoy sun, sea and food big time. And I plan to paint a big bunch of miniatures. Oh, how exciting I am at the moment. Everything is already set up. Brushes selected, paints sorted, miniatures prepared. Gosh, I haven’t done this kind of preparation for a quite some time now.  I believe since the last time I was doing ‘the travelling painter’ thing it was 2015. Three long years passed. I lived in Spain for some time, I go back …

Painting Fever. August-October 2017

Recent months were crazy busy for me. No matter what though – there was always free time to sit down by my desk and paint a model or two. Here’s the summary of my works from last three months. Glart Smashrip O.M.G. This fat rat is probably one of the most awesome miniatures ever released. The wickedness of this model is epic. And I’m telling you this as a big time Skaven fan. No objectivity here -just pure blind affection! Glart is fat. Glart is too fat, in fact. How’s he playing Blood Bowl is a mystery for me. He definitely has the strength, but very little speed and stamina;). The model itself represents, in my opinion, how the higher class of Skaven society could look like. I can see  fat Grey Seer or Warlock Engineer of Clan Skryre. Eating warpstone all day – everyrat would gain a few kilos on a diet like that, right? Too bad GW hasn’t released anything like that. Thankfully there’s Glart. I got him during the visit in Warhammer …

The slump is over. Part 2. Malifaux commission

Like I promised, I’m going to publish some more stuff here. First things first, there’s going to be series of entries, maybe with not so engaging content, but definitely eye-catching. Or simply, less text, more pictures. The thing is, for the last couple of months I was painting a lot, but there was no proof of that on the blog. Now, while I’m back to ‘serious’ blogging, time to get back to those past painting jobs and present them here. I know, I’ve put a tons of pictures on various social media already, but a blog is something more permanent. Once I post it here, I have it documented for good. Social media stuff disappear so quickly. So, without further ado – today’s miniatures: Malifaux Ten Thunders faction bunch This was a big commission work I was working on for three weeks in July 2017. All together 22 miniatures. And what’s cool about this work – there was no moment of doubt and no feel of boredom. The variety of models here was wide. From …

Fulgrim. The Primarch of Emperor’s Children

Let me present Fulgrim, The Primarch of Emperor’s Children, The Third Legion of Space Marines. Horus Heresy is a big, big thing. Something that I wanted to go into for a very long time. It’s stuck in my head and I can’t get rid of it. The questions were – how to do it, how much money invest and what’s more important – what’s exactly to start to collect… This was a huge brain teaser for me. Believe me. For a last couple of years I listen to Horus Heresy audio books whenever there was an opportunity. During paint sessions, travelling, jogging. Really, whenever there a gap, I grab my mobile and set of phones and get into  it. And I must say, it’s awesome! Really great stuff to listen to. So intensive fluffwise and, I’m must confess  – it’s amazing marketing tool. I mean – after each book, Forge World’s page was opened to look for some miniatures connected to the Legion I was listening about. It was only a matter of time which …
