Ladies and Gentlemen – Ikit Claw!

Twists and twirls in my life, folks. We were supposed to be on vacations at the moment. Unexpected circumstances forced me and my wife to get back to Warsaw right after nice relaxing weekend in Prague. So, instead of lakes, mountains of Bavaria and canals of Amsterdam – I’m stuck in Warsaw. Not so much travelling for Game of Travel right now… Ok, it might sounds little bit sad or depressing, but the hell it isn’t! In Warsaw we decided to ease up a little and made some top quality time here – we met long time no see friends, went to cinema and few parks.Top notch week we had:) And meantime I’m back to painting. My pace is little be bit slow right now, but I do my best. Don’t blame me – after all I’m still on holidays:) Yesterday I finally finished Ikit Claw, one of my favourite characters from all Skaven Empire. The model is from 4th/5th edition of Wahammer Fantasy Battle – and again – it’s my favourite from all Skaven. …

Battle Report: Warhammer Fantasy – Skaven vs Skaven 1200 points

I waited for this moment quite a some time. My very first battle of Warhammer Fantasy with all miniatures in the army painted by myslef. No, really – I collect/paint and play almost 20 years (with long break, but still), and I haven’t play with the army twhere all minis are painted (of course, I don’t count those situations when I played at some tournaments and all my army was quick drybrushed for purpose of battle – that was obvious cheating;). My Skaven army is about 1200 points right now, so it’s not much, but it’s a good start. It took me one year and a half to complete all miniatures. Not all is done like it should be – proper basing is still necessary, arranging some cool movement trays and two banners to be painted, but let’s be honest – the most difficult part is done:). I’ve presented my army in previous post. The first battle I was about to play was against my friend Michał and his… Skaven army. Hmm, that was unusual …

My 1200 points Skaven horde is ready for action (finally!)

Last Friday I finally played my first battle of Warhammer Fantasy Battle with fully painted army. It was only 1200 point Skaven Army, but still. It was first time in my life, I was able to do that with every miniature included in army rooster (well, not entirely true, but about this – later). It took me over one year to accomplish that. I was taking my painting station and miniatures to such countries like – Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Mexico, El Salvador, Costa Rica and Nicaragua (and few more:). There were months I didn’t feel like painting at all, and on the other hand – there were also I was painting like crazy. Last week for example, before this battle I had 12 Clanrats left to complete whole regiment. That was demanding task – very little sleep, no social or family life – and I made it! Whole army completed:). I’m happy as never before (well…let’s say concerning my hobby, not entire life;). But let’s agree that was emergency, that I prefer …

Gamers Den – hobby centre in Cancún

Cancún was my last place to stay and visit on the American soil. This Monday, after 6 months of travelling, I finally got back to Europe (Madrid, Spain to be exact). I almost forgot how it is to live in Europe – I missed it so much;). I already visited two stores here in Madrid, but before I give my insight from Spain, I’m going to write little bit about Cancún‘s only hobby store – Gamers Den and little wargaming community there. I’ve visited Gamers Den last weekend with high expectations. First – I was super exited about meeting gamers from there. I turned out, it’s hard for me to stay outside community for longer period of time. Of course, if there’s no perspective on the horizon – no shops or clubs around – I do not suffer hard, but when I found out that in Cancún there’s a gaming club of Warhammer Fantasy, the anticipation was hard to handle. Second thing. I was hoping to buy new paints (my Kislev Flesh was disaster! I’ve been watering …

Warhammer Fantasy Battle Report: Siege of Ancient Dwarf Stronghold

About two weeks ago I had a pleasure to meet the guys from Warhammer Fantasy Battle Club in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Mexico. Read all about it here. …but what most important – we played awesome battle, and now, as I promised I’m giving you right now the very first battle report on Game of Travel! (too bad I couldn’t posted earlier, but for last week I was super busy…having vacations with my wife in Belize. No working, painting or writing – only free time:). It’s not exactly the report I wanted to present here, especially for the first time. I had few doubts about it – to post it or not. Finally I decide to share it, but let me explain what I had on my mind: My idea was, to put only reports on battles played only with FULLY painted armies. Playing battles with unpainted armies are big no, no for me – I’d like my opponent also has painted miniatures, but sometimes reality and rules have to be bended.  In Tuxtla there were no …

Warlock’s Lair – Warhammer Fantasy Club in Chiapas, Mexico

I’ve spent in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas in Mexico 12 days. Not very entertaining time, I must say. Mostly work. One super adventurous excursion to Canyon Sumidero, and beside that nothing special… expect… I had nice meet up with the guys from local Warhammer 40k Club. I had very pleasant Friday afternoon, chatting and playing small, almost skirmish game of WH40k. In one of the previous posts I’m writing all about it. At first, the plan was to meet these guys and that’s it. Our extended stay in Tuxtla Gutiérrez allowed me to arrange one more meeting, in following weekend. We supposed to play Warhammer 40000 again (btw. thanks again to guys from the club, allowing me to use their miniatures for battle, I really appreciate it), but I think they were truly concern, when I was telling about my admiration for Warhammer Fantasy Battle, and small change has taken the place. Instead of usual every-weekend meeting cafeteria, we went to the home of one of the Fantasy gamers. I haven’t complain about – after 40k, I was …

Rat Ogre – the first of many

I have been mentioning that few times before – my Skaven Swarm Army is almost done. All is left to paint: around 10 Skaven Slaves and 10 Clanrats. I need about few weeks to finish them and, for the first time in my life I’ll be able to play with entirely painted army (It will be only 1000-1200 points, but still). To be honest, not only I never had any of my armies painted –  in last 12 months I’ve painted more miniatures, than the rest of my life! I was kind of lazy back in the days – definitely I was preferring playing, than painting (now it’s opposite – I barely play and try to paint as much as possible). I was kind of addicted to buying new armies – both fantasy and 40k. Every time something new was released – I  wanted to have it! Ok. Right now it’s similar – I want to have tons of miniatures. There are so many cool models, just begging to buy them. But right now, I’m …

Grey Seer. Proper leader for End Times

I managed to finish Grey Seer model from End Times today. I must say, I enjoyed the process so much. It was nice change after bunch of Skaven Slaves, Clanrats or Stormvermin. Painting lords, heroes and special characters is so much fun. Too bad, my entire army can’t include only super awesome characters, with nicely scrupled miniatures like this Grey Seer. I bought this mini in Mexico City. It is my first model from latest Games Workshop End Times releases. I remember when I was leaving Europe, Nagash book have been already published, and Glotkin book just appeared in shops. All those awesome miniatures, like Nagash, Arkhan or Glotkin Brothers were tempted me: buy me, buy me! It doesn’t matter, I’m expensive and you don’t even collect Undead or Daemons – BUY me! I was so close to buying Glotkin. The miniature is a masterpiece. Absolutely ‘must have’ for every Chaos player. And because of that miniature – I seriously started to think about re-buying Chaos Army. In late 1990s and early  2000s I owned …

Skaven Clanrats finally ready!

At least three of them… These three are part of regiment of 30 Skaven Clanrats with spears and shields and wearing light armour. The regiments is build from 7th edition plastic models. I used only those models form The Clanrat Box Set with light armour, those without any (wearing only rugs) received hand weapon and became slaves:) I have 10 of such Clanrats with me in Mexico, and the rest are waiting for me in Poland. So far I painted 12 (18 to go…). Last week we have arrived to Huatulco, south of Oaxaca State. Originally we wanted to stay here for only a week. Chill out a little on the beach, swim in the sea and take some sunbath. It would be perfect, after crowded and busy Mexico City. After staying here few days and getting know the area, we decided to stay little more. Three weeks to be exact. The place is perfect. Beach is near, wifi signal is OK to work, not too may tourists and what is most important – I …

Finally! Warhammer Shop (in Mexico).

Last week I have visited two wargaming shops in Mexico City. About first visit in ‘El Duende’, you can read in one of the previous posts from February 2015. Even though, I was enjoying ‘El Duende’ so much – I met fantastic people so passionate about Warhammer 40000 – it wasn’t  very fruitful for me personally as a collector.  I was in need of new brushes, new Citadel Paints, and most of all – new minis. And there was nothing for me. My list of unpainted miniatures (dated 20.02.2015): two Skaven Stormvermins (metal 5th Edition) one Island of Blood Plastic rat Ogre Wolsung Skirmish Steampunk Game Oak & Shield Lady Ellendeanne Wolsung Oak & Shield Sir Zachary Fiercebatten III with his hounds Not so much, as you can see. I will be travelling across Mexico for about 2.5 months. I needed more models to paint. And, you know, I’m addicted to it – I need to do this as often as possible. Preferably every day for at least 1-2 hours. Some days I’m able to …
