Unknown Skaven Warlord…

…and back to Skaven again… What happened , you ask? After my all declarations that I’m done with Skaven for some time, and concentrate more on other games than Warhammer- Infinity, Malifaux and Wolsung, I’m back to the rats… Yes, apparently Skaven are my drug. I can’t get rid of them for a longer period of time, and after few weeks I’m back to painting them all over again. They are way to cool to leave them alone:). So, let me present my latest achievement – Skaven Warlord – End Times release. Amazing model – love the posture of that guy, love the details (tiny rat on Warlord’s belt or human head stuck to the pole), love the typical Skaven attitude. Natural born leader;). I got great bargain deal for this miniature on internet auction. I paid about 2/3 of actual GW price – so it would be a sin if I would not buy it. The timing was also perfect because I needed one more mini for my Skaven army. I needed the chief …

My first impressions about Age of Sigmar – Skaven vs Wood Elves Battle

Finally that day has come – I played the battle of infamous Warhammer: Age of Sigmar. I was hesitating for quite some time – the game was released in the beginning of July, so it has been about 6 weeks. It was not matter of my bad attitude. I was not exited about how new Warhammer Fantasy looks like, but I wasn’t gloom either. For me it was another game that appeared on the market, which was needed to by tried. And it was all easier, because I already had required models to play. Of course I had (still have) my ‘buts’ about Age of Sigmar, but there are mainly fluff issues. I always have been Warhammer Fantasy guy – started in early 1990s from RPG and quickly converted into Fantasy Battle. So, during past 20 something years I played 5 editions of WHFB, RPG, Man-o-War, Mordheim, Bloodbowl and Warhammer Quest. All these games were located in Old World. Old World was my companion for more than a half of my life. …and all of …

Progress on my Infinity Bakunin army – Moderator Gal

As I promised to myself – my work on Infinity The Game project continues. I made an agreement with my friend Jarek – that we will play Infinity at least one time before I leave Poland. Mine Bakunin Nomads against his Aleph. Jarek is perfect opponent for me –  both of us are absolutely beginners. Maybe he has some more experience, he played few tutorial games – but still he is learning the games, its rules and strategies, so he will be at my reach and the game will be smooth and I’ll handle the events during the game on the tabletop. The best to learn and still get fun from it. So, Jarek, here I come! I think the very first game will be for 200 points. It’s little bit less than usual game of Infinity (300 points), but it will be just fine for the rookie like me. Still enough models to get familiar with schematics of the game and have jolly entertaining game. Maybe even more than one in the same evening. …

Malifaux Project – Neverborn: Cherub and terror Tots

For me it’s kind of race against time at the moment. I have less than two months until my departure to Australia and I still have so many things to arrange and take care of. And I’m not talking only about  my hobby life – stuff is getting serious in all areas of my life. Professional, friends and family… In fact, I shouldn’t sit every evening and play with my little plastic, metal and resin toys, but plan ahead and try to figure out what should I prepare or organize. Oh, yeah, I’m hopeless example of ‘raisefieber’ guy… Thankfully, painting miniatures calms me down. At least a little.  So, I do this every evening  – as a replacement activity – trying not to think about my next big trip… I know I’m exaggerate here a little – to be completely honest I don’t have THAT much to right now. It’s just all in my head…maybe it’s one more reason to paint some more  – to clear my mind and relax a little. After all – …

Infinity The Game – Bakunin – Moderator with Spitfire

Busy days behind me. I painted a lot… Every day, every evening I was sitting down for few hours at my workbench and painted. Until I was so tired, I could handle the brush any more… This is strange… it’s supposed to be a hobby. Fun. And it should bring me joy. Instead of that – after few hours of constant painting, I felt relief… Oh, Gosh – finally over. I can go to sleep… 😉 Sounds like whining…well.. maybe a bit…but when I the miniature is finished, I feel that excitement again and I’m proud I reached the goal. And of course I’m proud of myself… and then another evening starts and I repeat the process… My latest model is Moderator form Infinity The Game – Nomads Bakunin Jurisdictional Command. Generally in next few weeks I have a plan to concentrate my painting efforts mostly on Infinity (with some breaks for Malifaux). I recently have bought  Infinity Rulebook and after quick study I must say the game system is pretty wicked. First of all, …

Battle Report: Warhammer Fantasy Battle 8th Ed. Skaven vs Wood Elves (1250 points)

Wow! Finally! Breakthrough! After 4 battles lost in the row I managed to achieve victory against Wood Elves. I’ve adjusted my army a little (in other words: I get rid of the traitors in my Skaven horde:) and, look at that, I won! To be honest – I’m happy, but first of all I feel relief. The pressure was growing with every next lost game – and now, I think it’s going to be much easier. I arranged the battle some time ago with my friend Jasiek from our local Warsaw Warhammer Facebook group – I was quite anticipating this one. I must say, Wood Elves were always kind of the mystery for me. I barely know the Army Book and their rules, and I’ve played against them, maybe 2-3 times. So, after this clash – I learned quite a few things about Wood Elves – lesson taken and remembered… Ok, enough about me. Let me take you to the story… Short summary – Lord Quiksqueek and his struggle for glory About few months ago …

Interview with Łukasz Perzanowski – creator of Wolsung Steampunk Skirmish Game

If you read my blog for some time, You probably have noticed that I really like Wolsung skirmish game. I really like models and the fluff – for me it is a proper steampunk game. The game I was looking for quite some time. Few weeks ago I had a pleasure to visit HQ of Micro Art Studio in Gdynia, Poland- producer of Wolsung game. I have played nice game with Łukasz Perzanowski, one of creators of Wolsung. I got short tour around the place and what is most important I had the opportunity to talk with Sebastian Makowski – boss of Micro Art Studio. Big thank you for that! Now is the time for the last part of material I brought back from Gdynia – interview with Łukasz – the guy who was making the rules for Wolsung Steampunk Skirmish game. Have a read! Me: How exactly Wolsung Skirmish Game was born? Łukasz: It all has started in 2011… I think… or little bit earlier. Sebastian Makowski, the boss of Micro Art Studio simply …

Starting my next project: Neverborn – Lilith Mother of Monsters.

So, it finally happened. I began my another project – Malifaux.  I plan this to be my next big thing next to Infinity. I want to finish painting all necessary models to play both games till the end of September. All because I’d like to play tutorial game of Malifaux and Infinity before I depart to Australia and Asia. Hopefully I will be able to pack enough miniatures to play with some gamers met on the road. And the beauty of all skirmish games – I don’t need many models to play. Perfect for travelling. Last week I’ve painted Infinity Reverend Custodier from Nomads – Bakunin Jurisdictional Force. Awesome experience. Made me want abandon painting Games Workshop for a while. So different – both with style and sculpt. Miniature is so thin and have lots of details. Simply piece of art. I was about to paint another model from Infinity –  Moderator with spitfire. I even cleaned and primed it. …and then I looked at my recently rearranged shelf with my boxes full of miniatures. …

My first Infinity miniature – Reverend Custodier from Bakunin

Oh, wow! For last week I was working on my Blood Angels Terminator Squad. This week seemed like eternity, and there’s lots of red, you know:) There was no other option than a break and paint something quite different. Quick glance at my desk – Skaven’s Screaming Bell, Warpfire Fire Thrower, Jezzails, Malifaux’s Lilith with her crew, and one lonely model from Infinity – Reverend Custodier  from Nomads, Bakunin. And the last model was my choice. I thought it will take me around 3-4 hours to complete the model, just like I wrote, quick break from Blood angels. And, of course, there was no surprise, to complete this model I needed much more. Total time of painting: 6 hours (but to be honest I was not sit on it entire time…) . I always tend to underestimate the time for finishing my painting job. The thing with Infinity miniatures is that they are so freaking detailed. Comparing to Games Workshop stuff – they have way much more details. They look so thin and fragile. When …

Interview with Sebastian Makowski – owner of Micro Art Studio

Few weeks ago I had a pleasure to visit Micro Art Studio in Gdynia, Poland. I saw the company from inside, I had nice chat with guys from Micro Art Studio, producer of Wolsung, Discworld miniatures and many gaming accessories. I also had the most awesome game of Wolsung Skirmish Game, with Łukasz – one of the creators of the game. What was super cool I got the opportunity to ask few questions to Sebastian Makowski – boss of Micro Art Studio. We were talking about past, present and future of the company. Please, take a read:) Me: What are the beginnings of Micro Art Studio? Sebastian Makowski: In 2005 I officially started my company called Micro Art Studio. So it’s 10 years now… It happened that I always was passionate about miniatures and miniature games. I did lots of commission paintings. Right now the time has changed and we don’t do this anymore. The market has fluctuated, prices have changed and, I think it’s not that profitable anymore. And the very beginning of Micro …
