The slump is over. Part 2. Malifaux commission

Like I promised, I’m going to publish some more stuff here. First things first, there’s going to be series of entries, maybe with not so engaging content, but definitely eye-catching. Or simply, less text, more pictures. The thing is, for the last couple of months I was painting a lot, but there was no proof of that on the blog. Now, while I’m back to ‘serious’ blogging, time to get back to those past painting jobs and present them here. I know, I’ve put a tons of pictures on various social media already, but a blog is something more permanent. Once I post it here, I have it documented for good. Social media stuff disappear so quickly. So, without further ado – today’s miniatures: Malifaux Ten Thunders faction bunch This was a big commission work I was working on for three weeks in July 2017. All together 22 miniatures. And what’s cool about this work – there was no moment of doubt and no feel of boredom. The variety of models here was wide. From …

One day in Gentlemen’s Club – Malifaux Tournament

I’m not exactly tournament guy. Too much pressure mixed with so called ‘power gamer’ attitude – definitely not for me I used to think, something like that. Some time ago, by accident in one of the local hobby stores I bumped on Polish Malifaux Henchman – Rafał. He asked me if I will come to the tournament he organizes. Well, obviously, my answer was  – no. First, I’m still rookie in Malifaux and second, tournaments are not my cup of tea. Well, I always admired men with such charisma, that they are not need to make a big of speecch to convince someone to act. Rafał, apparently is the guy, cause in few sentences he realised me that this tournament will be great idea to participate. Advantages – three games during one day. I’m rookie allright. And I will probably loose all three, but I’ll learn my lesson and gain the experience. Therefore, I will become better player. Actually I needed that – I’m in that stage: I get Malifaux rules, but to fully understand all …

Painting Fever. Part 4

Oh, my… that was really long, unexpected break from painting. Many things stood on the way of efficient work. It’s probably too long and boring list of excuses to quote it here. I can only share one, but actually it’s part of the hobby too, so, let’s just say I’m excused. My excuse – I was painting a huge model. One of the biggest in my entire life probably. And it took me many hours, and believe me it’s still not finished. I would like to share all the progress and post WIP pictures, but it’s so close to finish line right now, so I decided to keep it until it’s done. What is it you ask? 🙂 Well, I’m going to keep it in secret for now and share it when it’s ready:). …and now, finally, after long, long break I got painting fever again. Today I have for you three minis painted during last two weeks. (I hope it’s going to be my permanent state, and fever will not get off). First is… …

Battle Report: Malifaux – Neverborn (Lilith) vs Arcanists (Kaeris)

In recent post I presented impressions I had from my first games of Malifaux. My final overall performance (without mentioning the final results;) was, let’s say, at least mediocre. Learning the rules, abilities and action – it all will take time to get it right. …but I wasn’t discouraged at all. Quite opposite. I wanted more. Opportunity occurred few days after ‘Hunt for Soulstone’ event, when I had the chance to stand against official Henchman – Rafał, and his Arcanists. It may was like thrown in at the deep end, but what a hell! There is no better way to learn the game, than by getting heavy beating. No new models on my side – Lilith and Pandora with some additions, but my options are still limited. I will get to painting Malifaux soon, and my faction will grow, but for now – it is what it is. We played 50 Soulstones game and we used new Strategies and Schemes Pool. Deployment: Flank Strategy: Guard The Stash Schemes: Convict Labor, Take Prisoner, Leave Your Mark, …

Malifaux – Gentlemen’s Game

Malifaux is sticking in my head for quite some time now (along with few other games, obviously). While most of my hobby life turns around Games Workshop products, I assumed, it’s nice to diversify and get in few skirmish games as well. Malifaux seemed to me as one of most natural choices – it expands rapidly in Warsaw and generally in Poland. Many veteran gamers gave up their hope on ‘good old’ Games Workshop and picked up Malifaux. …and I’ve been watching Malifaux for over a year now, started collecting around June 2015, painted first Master with the crew (Lilith) in September 2015 and finally had my first, introduction game also in September 2015. Later, I had a break due of my journey across the Asia. And actually I was pretty close to play Malifaux while visiting Jakarta in December 2015, but it was rather busy time for me so whole idea for it failed… …but on the plus side I managed to paint Pandora and her crew, and now I have two Neverborn Masters …

Malifaux again – Poltergeist and Sorrows

I’m back for good. I tell you that. Workplace fully set up – paint station, modelling corner, light box. All on one table. That’s pretty selfish of me. Taking over the only table in all studio, but…well… my wife has quite high level of understanding for my hobby, and she doesn’t mind at all. This table will be my workstation for next 7 months. We have rent contract until October 21st, 2016. For the first time, since few years, when we are back to Europe in spring, we don’t have any fixed plans for autumn/winter season. Last year we knew, we are going to Australia/Asia, but this year is big unknown. Many plans in our heads, but nothing certain. So, 7 months in one place. It means a little break from Game of Travel usual activity and time for ‘settle down’ mode. There will be more battle reports, some interviews and probably the same number of models show posts. Of course, I won’t be visiting so many cool places like during last few months, but …

Malifaux kids.

Edit (01.03.2015): I changed photos for better quality. Ok. Here I go again. For the last few weeks I have pretty good run. Since me and my wife have tons of work to do, we do not have much time to wander around (plus we are in very well known area – Koh Chang in Thailand, where we were few times before:), so any free time I have – I paint. And I paint like crazy. Of course I watch carefully for any decline of quality. Any rush in painting matter is not desirable. Patiently I’ll reach all my goals. Now, it’s the time for some Malifaux for a change;). I paint Malifaux in turns with Infinity, Wolsung and Games Workshop models, trying to shuffle between all my projects and slowly push them forward simultaneously. …and it’s time for younger generation. Malifaux children to be exact:). In Pandora “No Shelter Here” box there are several models – Pandora herself, Poltergeist, Sorrows and said children – Baby Kade and Candy. Painting them were really unique experience. …

Next Neverborn Master – Pandora

I must admit – my actual painting conditions I have right now, here on Panglao Island, are far from ideal. I set up my painting station at the patio. The chair is uncomfortable, the table is too low, humidity in the air is barely tolerable and it’s hot, hot, HOT. Despite all of this, I have pretty good run with painting miniatures. I’ve finished Zero for Infinity recently, and now my next mini is ready. Pandora, Neverborn Master for Malifaux. Malifaux along with Infinity, is one of my side skirmish projects, I’d like to finally develop to the level I could easily play with plenty of options. So far, I had only one Master painted (Lilith, Mother of Monsters) for my Neverborn faction. Pandora from ‘No Shelter Here’ boxset is from now on – the second. To be honest, I don’t have any particular strategy, how to develop my crew. Generally, I act the same for all game system I play. I simply buy miniatures I like and it would be awesome to paint. The …

Malifaux project – Doppelganger of Neverborn.

Time goes by. I spent on Bali over two weeks already – only few days and I’m going to Singapore. I’ve been working and I had leisure time as well, but what pleased me the most – I still have found some time to paint the miniatures. I should paint Space Marines. Looking at my last battle report – my Blood Angels vs Orks, where all my models where unpainted – Warhammer 40k models should be my priority. All the more, tomorrow probably I’ll have next battle of 40k and one more time unpainted army… Well, thankfully I finished my Sanguinary Priest – at least one model will look as it should be. …but I refuse to paint any Warhammer models. At least for now. I have sufficient number of miniatures prepared to paint for duration of my 6 months travel. I decided, now I concentrate on something else. I simply do not feel like painting Warhammer 40k at the moment. I prefer something else. Something like Malifaux model will be just right:). For the …

My first Malifaux Game – Neverborn vs Ten Thunders

In my last post I presented the miniatures I painted for my Malifaux Neverborn band – Nephilims. Mature one and two younger. These three miniatures were planned to complete the base of my Neverborn faction. It was kind of the race against the clock for me. I bought the first Malifaux box set in August (Lilith – Mother of Monsters) and I wanted to to paint enough miniatures to play tutorial game before 21st October (my departure date). At first I thought it’s enough time to paint the minis from the box and even few more. So, I added Waldgeists and Nephilims to my painting schedule. It all seemed to be manageable and possible to combine with my other painting projects at the same time. However, as usual, everything got little messed up – I was late with everything. I had plans to play two tutorial games before my departure. First, Infinity and second – Malifaux.  Due to failure of my time table, I was forced to abandon my plans about Infinity. No way I …
