Bases, bases, bases! Lots of bases!

Few weeks ago I’ve ordered a handful of resin bases from Micro Art Studio and finally later last week I’ve received my package! I’m happy as a  small boy. Finally most of my miniatures will have proper bases. Of course, right now it’s going to be loads of work with pining and glueing minis to the bases (not to mention painting them), but I can assume it’s going to be fun work:). And what’s more important it will be very rewarding – everything I was doing for past few months (or even years now) will be finally finish… I just need some time:). So, what exactly bases I got from Micro Art Studio? Let’s take a look:) Blood Angels (Warhammer 40000) I was thinking how to base my Blood Angels for quite a some time. I had few options in mind – wilderness, wasteland or maybe more urban environment. After short consideration I’ve decided to go with Tech Bases from Micro Art Studio. They are of course so deep SF, as you can even imagine, …

Visit in Wargamer, local shop here in Warsaw, Poland

As I’m going to be in Warsaw for a while and at least until October no worldwide travelling is planned, I had that thought – the moment has come to write few words about local community here in Warsaw. For the last few weeks I visited few of the stores in the area – and honestly I was confused… In Warsaw there are plenty of wargaming hobby stores, all scattered around the city. I had opportunity to check only few of them and one conclusion came to my head – Games Workshop almost completely monopolized local market (like whole world:).  All stores in the neighbourhood I live, specialize in Warhammer Fantasy Battle and Warhammer 40k. Plus some board and card games and that’s it. In general, I don’t have problem with that. Warhammer fluff is amazing and it’s good folks are into it, but after the visits in some awesome stores in for example Madrid or Prague, when diversity of miniatures offer is stunning – I started to regret there is nothing like that here …

Ladies and Gentlemen – Ikit Claw!

Twists and twirls in my life, folks. We were supposed to be on vacations at the moment. Unexpected circumstances forced me and my wife to get back to Warsaw right after nice relaxing weekend in Prague. So, instead of lakes, mountains of Bavaria and canals of Amsterdam – I’m stuck in Warsaw. Not so much travelling for Game of Travel right now… Ok, it might sounds little bit sad or depressing, but the hell it isn’t! In Warsaw we decided to ease up a little and made some top quality time here – we met long time no see friends, went to cinema and few parks.Top notch week we had:) And meantime I’m back to painting. My pace is little be bit slow right now, but I do my best. Don’t blame me – after all I’m still on holidays:) Yesterday I finally finished Ikit Claw, one of my favourite characters from all Skaven Empire. The model is from 4th/5th edition of Wahammer Fantasy Battle – and again – it’s my favourite from all Skaven. …

Ogří Doupě (Ogre’s Lair) – Prague’s one of the finest hobby centres

That supposed to be three weeks break from work, family, all the responsibilities  and even my hobby. No miniatures, no painting and even no posting on this blog. The plan was to visit Czech Republic, Germany and Netherlands. Maybe France and Belgium also… After all, the best plan when there’s no strict plan. Unfortunately after 4 days we were forced to go back. My wife got unexpected job offer – the offer which you shouldn’t and can’t refuse. So… nice weekend in Prague, Czech Republic, and bam! Back to Warsaw. I was little disappointed at first – I was looking forward to have nice road trip in many places I’ve never been before, but then I realized – I have so much fun things to do at home. And when I write fun – I mean…painting of course! (I know what you think, I know – what a nerd! ;).  My plans instead of vacations: finish some few more Skaven paint small detachment of Blood Angels …and finally start paint and learn Infinity! So, I …

Battle Report: Warhammer Fantasy – Skaven vs Skaven 1200 points

I waited for this moment quite a some time. My very first battle of Warhammer Fantasy with all miniatures in the army painted by myslef. No, really – I collect/paint and play almost 20 years (with long break, but still), and I haven’t play with the army twhere all minis are painted (of course, I don’t count those situations when I played at some tournaments and all my army was quick drybrushed for purpose of battle – that was obvious cheating;). My Skaven army is about 1200 points right now, so it’s not much, but it’s a good start. It took me one year and a half to complete all miniatures. Not all is done like it should be – proper basing is still necessary, arranging some cool movement trays and two banners to be painted, but let’s be honest – the most difficult part is done:). I’ve presented my army in previous post. The first battle I was about to play was against my friend Michał and his… Skaven army. Hmm, that was unusual …

My 1200 points Skaven horde is ready for action (finally!)

Last Friday I finally played my first battle of Warhammer Fantasy Battle with fully painted army. It was only 1200 point Skaven Army, but still. It was first time in my life, I was able to do that with every miniature included in army rooster (well, not entirely true, but about this – later). It took me over one year to accomplish that. I was taking my painting station and miniatures to such countries like – Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Mexico, El Salvador, Costa Rica and Nicaragua (and few more:). There were months I didn’t feel like painting at all, and on the other hand – there were also I was painting like crazy. Last week for example, before this battle I had 12 Clanrats left to complete whole regiment. That was demanding task – very little sleep, no social or family life – and I made it! Whole army completed:). I’m happy as never before (well…let’s say concerning my hobby, not entire life;). But let’s agree that was emergency, that I prefer …

Sir Zachary Fiercebatten III and his Bassets – Wolsung again

Time is running fast. It has been over a week since I write the last post. On the one hand -I’ve been busy. Work, family, hobby – lots of different stuff. On the other hand  – no excuses. This break is way too long. It cannot happen again. I find this blog as a great self-motivating tool and it will be updated more often. It’s just necessary and fun thing to do. Ok. Long story short. Today I’ve played my first Warhammer Fantasy Battle game with my entire Skaven army painted. And this is one of the reasons (or even the main reason) I had a very little time to update my blog. I’m not talking about preparing sneaky clever Skaven tactics for last two weeks of course. I was just super busy with painting those damn rats (the swarm is never ends, you know) before the battle. I made it and finally I managed to play the game, for the first time in my life – with all miniatures painted by myself (super proud:). …

Madrid – with visit in Atlántica Juegos

Recently I don’t add that much content here. I really regret that, but since I got back to Poland I have little bit too many things over my head – things so boring, not even worth to mention here. But, on the plus side – I paint a lot. I finally had one desk with good comfy chair and adequate lamp and I can sit every evening and paint until late night. At the beginning of June I’m about to play a game of Warhammer Fantasy Battle with my old friend (I’ll playing Skavens, not sure againt which army though…). The thing is, I still haven’t finished painting the least minimum to deploy whole army painted. So, I have little race against time here – still around 15 Clanrats left plus I’m thinking who will be the general – probably Ikit Claw, and he need to be painted too. Tough choices ahead me. …plus, I paint simultaneously Sir Zachary Fiercebatten III and his hounds (Wolsung Skirmish Game), as a counterbalance to swarm of rats. Pfff…all …

Goblin Trader, Madrid aka Land of Plenty (WOW!)

At the beginning of May I’ve been in Madrid for 5 days. It was our short stop between Mexico and Poland. As we never have been in Madrid, we’ve done lots of sightseeing with my wife, but as you can probably imagine my thoughts were concentrated on something completely different. For the first time since October 2014 I was in the city with so many shops, clubs and generally wargaming communities scattered around. After long stay in Central America and Mexico, Madrid seemed to me like a promised land. The best what I could get during that tine were few gaming shops in Mexico City, but comparing to European shops, their offer is limited. So, I was really anticipating the visit in a hobby store in Madrid, especially few of my paints were out, and also I was crying in despair for new brushes. I knew I don’t have too much time (I would be happy to visit all of places on wargaming map of Madrid:) and I need to choose at most two. My …

Lady Ellendeanne from Wolsung Skrimish Game ready!

Finally in Europe. First I’ve been in Madrid for 6 days in Ibis Budget Hotel. Ibis is almost second home for me – I was using Ibis Hotels network so many times and the decor of the room everywhere is the same. You feel kind of relief, when you enter the room, wherever you are it’s similar – like I wrote second home:). Just few days there and we were headed to Warsaw. What’s the best in Ibis Hotel, the light in the room is perfect for painting miniatures. During the day – big window, so the room is floodlit with sunlight. And the evening – finally some accurate lamp over the desk. It was perfect prelude to my stay in Poland, where I finally can arrange most optimal conditions. I hadn’t much time to paint last week – I never been in Madrid before, so beside work – me and my wife decided to do some sightseeing. Of course it was perfect excuse to visit two wargaming stores there (about this – next time). …
