Battle Report: Warhammer 40k – Blood Angels vs Chaos Space Marines (750 points)

Last week I’ve visited Battlefield Bangkok store in Thailand. Great place and great people are working there! After short conversation via Facebook, they arranged the battle against Chaos Space Marines for me. Jack, one of the employees from the store was about to be my opponent. We agreed to play 750 points battle. I used, as always, my two travelling squads of Blood Angels (one Tactical and one Terminators) plus Sanguniary Priest. This time I managed to paint them a little bit. Still, loots of work to do, but at least you can see red on the table and that’s progress. I borrowed few Dark Angles models from the store cabinet to complete my Army list. Really, appreciate that – I’m really grateful for possibility of borrowing models from store collection. Thank you guys! Background Story The time has come. The heresy is about to be purged. Exeteminatus has been ordered for planet of Baan. Several cults of Chaos were detected,  infiltrating local society for decades spreading the rot on the living flesh of Imperium …

Age of Sigmar thoughts. Part 2

Few days ago, Daniel has commented my post from August 2015, that describes my impressions after first game of Warhammer: Age of Sigmar. The comment is long and comprehensive. Daniel points out, what in his opinion, is exactly Age of Sigmar and why it shouldn’t be compared to previous editions of Warhammer Fantasy Battle. First, I’ve started to respond to the comment under my original post, but when I’ve realised it’s going to be also quite long text, I made a decision not to put it in comment section of the blog, but publish it as regular, separate post. Few conclusions have not changed, few I describe in details and most of all I make reference to comment of Daniel. Original post, and Daniel’s comment is here.  First of all, I’d like to thank Daniel for such long elaborate comment. It’s so awesome that actually someone took a moment to read my AoS post and counterpoint my impressions. I will try to refer to all  points included in Daniel’s comment. The thing is – my …

Battle Report: Warhammer 40k – Blood Angels vs Raven Guard (750 points)

Recently I’ve written about impressions I got from my visit in Singapore’s hobby store  – Gamers@PI (link here). I’ve spent awesome evening there – chatting, gossiping (wargaming stuff only:) and making few new friendships. …and beside that I’ve played great battle of Warhammer 40k  with one of the store’s employees – Aaron. My Blood Angels vs his Raven guard. It was only 750 points (we haven’t got too much time), but it still was fun. My major issue about this battle and battle report – how to explain that Blood Angles were fighting with their brothers – Raven Guard. It was tough nut to crack – two loyalist chapters fighting each other? Very unlikely. I needed something to spice up the background story a little and make it believable. I needed Raven Guard force to turn renegade and stand against Imperium (I hope Aaron will not mind this sudden change of sides:). Second issue – my models are still unpainted. I’ve finished Sanguinary Priest and nothing except that. Tactical squad –  black prim and Terminators …

Blood Angels Sanguinary Priest painted. Yay!

The time has finally come. Holiday break is over and now I’m back to work (not a fun part), but also I’m back to painting miniatures and writing new posts on Game of Travel blog. Three weeks in Australia – it was a nice break. The time I could regenerate and get strength for painting my entire travelling set of models (full list of what exactly I’m planning to paint during my 6 months stay in Asia is here). As you can see I have pretty ambitious plans – and if I want to make it possible, I should paint from 1 to 5 models a week. Surely, it’s manageable. Starting this week here in Kuta, Bali. And, wow, how I missed that! Over three weeks with no brush in my hand. How it’s even possible?! (well, it’s not entirely true – I was painting a little – I think, it was something about three hours… but it felt like nothing). And now, let me present you Blood Angels Sanguinary Priest for Warhammer 40000. I …

Battle Report: Warhammer Fantasy Battle 8th Edition – Skaven vs Dwarfs (1200 points)

As I predicted, the rate of posting new entries on Game of Travel significantly dropped down. During my entire stay in Australia (over 3 weeks) already I haven’t been able to post even one entry on Game of Travel. I painted only for few hours over that time. Arriving to this nice, such different country made me forget a little about mini war gaming. I had awesome time in Brisbane, Sydney, Blue Mountains, Kangaroo Island, Adelaide and Cairns – cuddling Koala, feeding Kangaroos, snorkelling on Great Bareer Reef. All of these activities – they can make you put in the nice holiday lazy mood – that you are not feel like painting or writing… Well, right now my holidays are over. After some perturbations, I’m on the Cairns airport sitting and waiting to my flight to Perth, where I can get connection to Bali.…It was awesome time, but it has been too long – Game of Travel need to be updated here and now. No matter the holidays and no matter my laziness – time …

Battle Report: Warhammer FB 5th ed. Skaven vs The Empire (2000 points)

After some time I got finally back to good old 5th edition of Warhammer Fantasy Battle. During recent few months this one – against Empire – is my third battle and, this is something, my third win.  And in the same time  – I played several battles of WHFB 8th edition and I won only one. So if you ask me why I prefer 5th edition, you have your answer. Everything is working better for me in 5th edition. I’m more familiar with the rules and schematics of the gameplay. Even my rolls are way better! And this is crucial:). Anyway, I had great battle against The Empire led by my friend Matheo. We played 2000 point and this is follow up battle of our small story of Battle of Rhoden. Here, you can read the battle report from the first game. And below the report of this battle. Enjoy! Background Story The town of Rhoden in Ostland Province of The Empire was special place. Local folks probably did not even be aware how important …

Battle Report: Warhammer Fantasy Battle 8th Edition – Skaven vs Bretonnia (1400 points)

And another battle behind me. My small (but still growing) Skaven army lost with Bretonnians this time;). What a bugger – the battle was tight and my rolls were so disappointing, so I could probably assume if they were a little bit better I would won this. Well, it happens. I played with Adam from our small FB Warhammer group in Bunkier Store  in Warsaw. It was nice game. Actually two games – and I lost both… First scenario we played was Blood and Glory, which I lost very quickly – my general died in first turn killed by some ugly Bretonnian spell and my Clanrats panicked and fled of the table due to almost entire annihilation by hit of Trebuchet’s stone. And the braking point reached. I can diplomatic say on my defence that I didn’t want to play this scenario – I do not like it at all. I played it few times and the battle ended too soon. First or second turn. Playing on small points, it’s very easy to achieve victory …

Ding! Dong! Ringing the Screaming Bell

The war is going on next level. It will to be more cruel and meaner. My Skaven will start wining from now on, marching  proudly in the echoing  rhythm of The Bell. Screaming Bell (wishful thinking, I know:). Finally, I managed to finish this awesome model. I started it quite some time ago – I think it was around 3 or 4 months ago. I have small problem with war machines. I got easily bored with painting wide wooden or metal surfaces. I prefer to paint small detailed miniatures. So, this Screaming Bell was painted in few stages. All interrupted by some other miniatures, I was particularly fond to paint at the moment. I think I painted during that time around 10 models or so. OK. But the day has come, last week. I think it was Friday. And I said to myself – My God, I could paint The Bell for ages if this will continue. So I’ve pulled myself together and I’ve finished The Screaming Bell in one go. Until end of the …

Battle Report: Warhammer Fantasy Battle 8th Edition – Skaven vs Goblins (1500 points)

Busy time. Still busy time here. I had no time to update my blog – it has been a week since the last entry. Some complications made me to take care of other stuff than work and hobby, but it should be better now. I’ve painted few miniatures – I’ll present them later, but now I finally want to present the battle report from my last game – Warhammer Fantasy Battle 8th edition – my Skaven vs Goblins. 1500 points. I’ve playing against Piotrek’s Goblins two weeks ago. Man! Two weeks! I had very little time during this time – I wanted to write this report, but there was always some other thing to do… …but on plus side – I sorted my travelling miniatures set for the next 6 months. I’m going to be apart of my collection during the long journey across Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia – so I needed to plan ahead and arrange what exactly I’ll paint in upcoming  months. Well, I think it’s a good excuse, why …
