Malifaux: Big Boy Nephilim and his younger bros

I bought my first Malifaux box at the beginning of August. It was Lilith – The Mother of Monsters set. I painted Lilith almost immediately and at that actual moment I remember I was thinking: Hey, that was quick! I should paint more of Malifaux models in about week or two and play the game! Yeah…what a wishful thinking:) The post about Lilith is from 15th August, so probably I painted her few days before that.  Let’s see… over two months and I finally painted all miniatures I wanted to be prepared before I even think about playing Malifaux. Yeah, one week my ass…;). So, two months later – I finally finished the miniatures I planned to paint before I leave Poland.  Honestly, what was I thinking? I wanted to paint 10 models for my starting Infinity Nomads force (failed to achieve that – om;y 4 painted) plus few miniatures for Warhammer Skaven Army. There is no way I could keep up all these three projects at the same time. I mean there is – …

Battle Report: Warhammer FB 5th ed. Skaven vs The Empire (2000 points)

After some time I got finally back to good old 5th edition of Warhammer Fantasy Battle. During recent few months this one – against Empire – is my third battle and, this is something, my third win.  And in the same time  – I played several battles of WHFB 8th edition and I won only one. So if you ask me why I prefer 5th edition, you have your answer. Everything is working better for me in 5th edition. I’m more familiar with the rules and schematics of the gameplay. Even my rolls are way better! And this is crucial:). Anyway, I had great battle against The Empire led by my friend Matheo. We played 2000 point and this is follow up battle of our small story of Battle of Rhoden. Here, you can read the battle report from the first game. And below the report of this battle. Enjoy! Background Story The town of Rhoden in Ostland Province of The Empire was special place. Local folks probably did not even be aware how important …

Infinity The Game. Prowler from Nomads, Bakunin

Along with my growing Malifaux Neverborn faction I’m trying to paint some base starting army for Infinity the Game – Nomads Bakunin Jurisdictional Command. As I already have enough models to play some tutorial basic game of Malifaux, when it comes to Infinity still I lack at least 6. And, well to be completely honest, I need a miracle to paint all six in exact two weeks. Almost impossible. 21th October I’m off to Australia and I’ll be away for around 6 months wandering around Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and other countries. …and that’s sucks a little. I was looking forward the game of Infinity. I heard so many positive opinions about this game. It’s complicity and dynamisms, unique rules and fast games. I mean, I could play the game with unpainted minis, but I made my inner resolution – no games with unpainted models. I was mentioning about this few time before – this is important for me. Painted miniatures make the game way more cooler and it gives me more fun. I don’t …

They came from the woods – Waldgeists (Malifaux, Neverborn)

It has been around one month since I painted my latest Malifaux miniature (Barbaros of Neverborn). Well, way to much time if you ask me…  (I needed to upgrade my Skaven army  – continuous process – and working on Infinity as well). I really enjoy painting these Malifaux models – so many details and such diversity – in one faction you could find so many different possibilities to paint. Neverborn that I chose for the start have so many crazy wicked miniatures, that I got little overwhelmed with options. What to get first? And what next? Everything looks so great! Serious decision was about to be made here. It took me some time but I’ve decided. Lilith and her bunch of monsters will be my first master for Malifaux. I was painting Lilith box set for few weeks (all interrupted with my other projects). Lilith herself, Terror Tots and Cherub, and finally Barbaros. And the question was which direction I should go? After some Malifaux Internet guides digging I’ve decided to purchase Waldgeists  and Nephilms …

Battle Report: Warhammer Fantasy Battle 8th Edition – Skaven vs Bretonnia (1400 points)

And another battle behind me. My small (but still growing) Skaven army lost with Bretonnians this time;). What a bugger – the battle was tight and my rolls were so disappointing, so I could probably assume if they were a little bit better I would won this. Well, it happens. I played with Adam from our small FB Warhammer group in Bunkier Store  in Warsaw. It was nice game. Actually two games – and I lost both… First scenario we played was Blood and Glory, which I lost very quickly – my general died in first turn killed by some ugly Bretonnian spell and my Clanrats panicked and fled of the table due to almost entire annihilation by hit of Trebuchet’s stone. And the braking point reached. I can diplomatic say on my defence that I didn’t want to play this scenario – I do not like it at all. I played it few times and the battle ended too soon. First or second turn. Playing on small points, it’s very easy to achieve victory …

Ding! Dong! Ringing the Screaming Bell

The war is going on next level. It will to be more cruel and meaner. My Skaven will start wining from now on, marching  proudly in the echoing  rhythm of The Bell. Screaming Bell (wishful thinking, I know:). Finally, I managed to finish this awesome model. I started it quite some time ago – I think it was around 3 or 4 months ago. I have small problem with war machines. I got easily bored with painting wide wooden or metal surfaces. I prefer to paint small detailed miniatures. So, this Screaming Bell was painted in few stages. All interrupted by some other miniatures, I was particularly fond to paint at the moment. I think I painted during that time around 10 models or so. OK. But the day has come, last week. I think it was Friday. And I said to myself – My God, I could paint The Bell for ages if this will continue. So I’ve pulled myself together and I’ve finished The Screaming Bell in one go. Until end of the …

Hobby on the road (again) – arranging my miniatures

Yes-yes! Less than one month and I am back on the road! This time I’m heading east. First Australia, most probably New Zealand, and then Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand. Later maybe Japan and China. Who knows. Departure: 21th October. Estimated time of return to Europe: late May 2016. It is going to be more than 6 months away from home (whatever that means for me during last few yeas:) and I’ll be separated from my precious miniatures collection for quite a some time. While I can live without playing the games (barely, but I can:) I can’t imagine my life without painting miniatures.  If it would be the choice to travel and not to paint at all for 6 months, probably I’d stay in Poland. But lucky for me nobody is forcing me to give it all up. I can take models, brushes and paints with me! Yay! This is going to be my 4th similar journey. Every time I was taking miniatures with me to paint, and every time I was little bit wiser …

Battle Report: Warhammer Fantasy Battle 8th Edition – Skaven vs Goblins (1500 points)

Busy time. Still busy time here. I had no time to update my blog – it has been a week since the last entry. Some complications made me to take care of other stuff than work and hobby, but it should be better now. I’ve painted few miniatures – I’ll present them later, but now I finally want to present the battle report from my last game – Warhammer Fantasy Battle 8th edition – my Skaven vs Goblins. 1500 points. I’ve playing against Piotrek’s Goblins two weeks ago. Man! Two weeks! I had very little time during this time – I wanted to write this report, but there was always some other thing to do… …but on plus side – I sorted my travelling miniatures set for the next 6 months. I’m going to be apart of my collection during the long journey across Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia – so I needed to plan ahead and arrange what exactly I’ll paint in upcoming  months. Well, I think it’s a good excuse, why …

Malifaux project – Barbaros of Neverborn

Oh, the last week was crazy busy for me – I did not had much time for painting. Thankfully I’ve found spare moment to write battle report of my Warhammer Fantasy battle Skaven vs Dogs of War (I have one more beetle to write about – this week for sure), but almost no painting from me… Shame, shame, shame – I tell you that…I have no excuses… …and therefore my backside projects Infinity and Malifaux are seriously late! I got about 5 weeks until my departure to Australia and I haven’t painted sufficient models to play even one lousy tutorial game . This week though will be better – that’s certain. It can’t be worse. I have serious hobby plans, oh yes I have. I want to paint few miniatures and sort my travelling painting set. At least some part of it – at first I’m going to arrange minis I want to take with me for the trip. There will be much more than last year. I’m planning to travel around 6 months, so …

Battle Report: Warhammer Fantasy 5th ed. Skaven vs Dogs of War (2000 points)

In last few days I  had two battles of Warhammer Fantasy Battle. Saturday I’ve played good old Herohammer (WHFB 5th edition) – 2000 points battle against Dogs of War, and Monday I’ve played WHFB 8th edition – 1500 points vs Orcs and Goblins. I had awesome time playing those battles and I honestly I can’t decide which battle was better. Well, maybe first one, because I won that:)  But still had great game against those Greenskins. I know Andrzej, Dogs of War player from Oldhammer.pl – Polish site associating players of all WHFB editions (except Age of Sigmar). And Dogs of Wars in 5th edition had really cool Army Book and awesome, really awesome miniatures. So this battle were exceptional. Do you remember Dogs of War? Regiments of Renown of Tilea and other lands? Mercenaries for hire are not available any more, but 5th and 6th edition were full of different types of units. Pikemen, Ogres, Dwarf Slayers pirates, Bearmen, Birdmen…and many more! Real class act! And now I had the pleasure for the very …
