Battle Report: Warhammer FB 8th Ed. – Skaven vs Chaos Dwarfs (2000 points)

Finally! After quite some time, next battle report is coming your way! The thing is, June and July will be pretty busy months for me.  Load of work and weekend excursions. And there’s no way I can play, paint or write as much as I would like to.  To be honest, I’m again in hotel right now (Vienna this time), and as nobody will bother me at weekend with any work related issues, I grabbed this opportunity, sat down and started to write next post for my blog. And as said at the start – battle report. Good old Warhammer Fantasy Battle. Getting back to 8th edition after a while. And I have the coolest opponent possible for my Skaven Army – Chaos Dwarfs (using Legion of Azgorgh rules from Forgeworld’s Tamurkhan book). I find Chaos Dwarfs as one of the most fascinating army to play or face against.  I started to collect Chaos Dwarfs myself (with intention to made 5th edition army list though), so this battle was pretty exciting event for me. Hope …

Bearers of Plague

I missed painting Skaven. I really did. After quite some time (over a month I think) during I was painting other stuff, finally I decided to go back rat army. It was too long, I tell you that. I find Skaven most rewarding and relaxing miniatures to paint, and there’s no way anything could beat that (that’s my personal opinion, so do net get angry or abused;). Of course, too many Skaven miniatures in the row will be too boring to handle, so that’s way I paint some different things from Warhammer and other games as well. There’s one thing certain – I will always go back to Skaven. They will always have priority when it comes to painting and gaming. Yes-yes! Anyway… these are my latest addition to my army. Plague Censer Bearers. Great models with really wicked rules included. At least for Warhammer Fantasy Battle (no matter the edition). I’m not sure how they work in Age of Sigmar (not a very big fan here;), but with no doubt these awesome minis will …

Infinity! Here I come! aka my first game

Finally! I made it! After all this years, I finished my Infinity Bakunin Nomads and I was ready and willing to play. But first things first, I needed a tutorial. The game I will got familiar with the game. Well, reading the rules, watching Youtube battle reports is not enough. Real life game was a necessity. Thanks to me, Corvus Belli, company behind Infinity, is organising so called ‘WarCors’ program. I tell you, this is awesome. WarCors are players who put extra effort to the hobby. They watch over their local community. They organize tournaments, other events, or… this is most interesting for me… make demonstration games. A year ago, when I had first look crush on Infinity, I was watching tutorial game between Pat, the local WarCor in Warsaw and my friend Jarek of Wargamer Hobby Store. And I thought, I might need the tutor like Pat to get more familiar with the game. In about two months or so. Pat, motivated with WarCor’s duty, was willing to help whenever I want to. Of …

Painting Fever. Part 3

Hello there! I’m back with another batch of freshly painted minis. I haven’t got much time recently to paint, but during last 10 days I haven’t been entirely unproductive.  Oh, quite opposite – I resisted temptation of launching Warhammer: Total War and I dedicated all my free time to miniatures.  And that was crucial moment, believe me. New TW has any indications to be time vortex for me. I see myself getting into world of video games, and be lost, like, forever. And beside miniatures, I have family too! So, at least for now, thanks but no thanks. I say no to Total War. I stick to metal and plastic  (and resin:). It is enough fun:). What you see here is work I’ve done during last two weeks. Like I wrote, busy time right now – miniature painting has little bit lower priority at the moment. Despite that, I have this trio. Lady Ellendeane of Wolsung, Beastmen Shaman and Empire Catian for WHFB. That was the least I was able to paint recently. …but one …

Battle Report: Malifaux – Neverborn (Lilith) vs Arcanists (Kaeris)

In recent post I presented impressions I had from my first games of Malifaux. My final overall performance (without mentioning the final results;) was, let’s say, at least mediocre. Learning the rules, abilities and action – it all will take time to get it right. …but I wasn’t discouraged at all. Quite opposite. I wanted more. Opportunity occurred few days after ‘Hunt for Soulstone’ event, when I had the chance to stand against official Henchman – Rafał, and his Arcanists. It may was like thrown in at the deep end, but what a hell! There is no better way to learn the game, than by getting heavy beating. No new models on my side – Lilith and Pandora with some additions, but my options are still limited. I will get to painting Malifaux soon, and my faction will grow, but for now – it is what it is. We played 50 Soulstones game and we used new Strategies and Schemes Pool. Deployment: Flank Strategy: Guard The Stash Schemes: Convict Labor, Take Prisoner, Leave Your Mark, …

Malifaux – Gentlemen’s Game

Malifaux is sticking in my head for quite some time now (along with few other games, obviously). While most of my hobby life turns around Games Workshop products, I assumed, it’s nice to diversify and get in few skirmish games as well. Malifaux seemed to me as one of most natural choices – it expands rapidly in Warsaw and generally in Poland. Many veteran gamers gave up their hope on ‘good old’ Games Workshop and picked up Malifaux. …and I’ve been watching Malifaux for over a year now, started collecting around June 2015, painted first Master with the crew (Lilith) in September 2015 and finally had my first, introduction game also in September 2015. Later, I had a break due of my journey across the Asia. And actually I was pretty close to play Malifaux while visiting Jakarta in December 2015, but it was rather busy time for me so whole idea for it failed… …but on the plus side I managed to paint Pandora and her crew, and now I have two Neverborn Masters …

Painting Fever. Volume 2

Ok. Time to sum up achievements of last few days. Well, more like weeks – because beside  few finishing touches on Queek Headtaker I haven’t painted in most efficient way. Two weeks and only 3 miniatures painted. Well, it could be better if you ask me, but still better this than nothing, right? 🙂 Today, I’d like to show you 3 models I was working on during past two weeks. Each of these three models is different and was chosen carefully to practice blending techniques with various selection of colours. On the other hand, if I would focus my efforts on one of my personal projects, the progress will be significant. The thing is, it would boring as hell. Diversification is the key. I paint what I would like to paint it particular moment – not what I must paint. So, three more models painted. Whenever I’m about to write the summary post like that, I feel like I’m little bit closer to completion. As long as I don’t acquire new models, the number unpainted …

My first Pulp City game – Virgo vs Xenobi

Few weeks ago I had the pleasure to play my first game of Pulp City, awesome skirmish game with super-heroes vs villains wickedness in its core. No, really, this is true old school comic book action located in the world of miniatures. Episode One. September 2015 I interviewed Maciej Żylewicz, master mind behind Pulp City. We talked for some time, and we arranged demonstration game, so I could learn the mechanics and feel the game by myself. Unfortunately, because of the quite busy schedule, we weren’t able to find suitable date to meet and play (October 2015 I was leaving Poland for few months). Once I got back in March 2016, I was eager and happy to give Pulp City one more try. Yeah, this time we made it. I played Pulp City. Hell yeah! Pulp City. What on earth exactly is it? Totally reasonable question. Pulp City is not worldwide well known miniature game, so I can imagine many of the readers are not familiar with it. Pulp City might not be ‘big player’ …

Queek Headtaker of Clan Mors

After all these weeks, while I was painting anything but my beloved rats, I’m finally going back to my personal project and army – Skaven. About 3 weeks ago I was playing 5. edition battle against Dwarfs (battle report available on my blog), plus I got into Warhammer 8th edition tournament (report also here:). And that was good opportunity to paint some reinforcements to my army. First of all, I painted bases, lots of bases. All my Skaven units were based on just simple green plastic bases with no rocks, sand or grass. Just ordinary plastic. Little bit sad and pathetic, I know, but I didn’t have any time to get them done. So, with upcoming event on the horizon, finally the time has come to base all of them (120 models:), to made them look good during battle against Dwarfs and WHFB tournament. Next thing. I thought, I may use Plague Monks (in both events as well). I had these nicely black primed models from the times of 3th, 4th and 5th editions, just …

Welcome to The Old World – Warhammer Fantasy Tournament

As general rule I don’t participate in tournaments. I am little  bit fed up of the idea of winning the game at any cost. The same army list as cheesy as possible, everything must work out like in the most precise clock. I had to win no matter what. ‘Victory is life’ as Jem’Hadar used to say. Yeah, it was pretty important. I stopped to take part in tournaments, around 6th editions of WHFB, as I got little bit bored with playing the same armies, same models, using same list all over again. Thanks, but no thanks. Not any more. I took a break. I needed quite few year to change my approach to any of miniatures games. I realised that victory is not the most important factor (sorry, Jam’hadar…). Having fun is. And by having fun I mean, painting my entire army, telling the story and playing different army lists with wide diversification of models. And, believe me I never been so happy with the hobby as I am now. I paint my minis, …
