Mr Cheng, at your service.

I believe I haven’t painted any of my Wolsung miniatures for quite a some time. The last were Steam Powered Dragonlings, and look at that, I’ve painted them in December 2015 and it was in the same area I’m at the moment. Koh Chang in Thailand is a nice island, perfect stop whenever I’m back here. Just few hours from Bangkok, cheap accommodation, delicious food, perfect weather and proximity to the beach. The best place  to stay for my last month in Asia. So, I’m back on Koh Chang. The circle of life is complete;) I can go back to Wolsung again… This time let me show you another model for Triad of Lotus Dragon faction – Mr Cheng. Mr Cheng is one of the heroes of The Triad, and my first of this crew. Generally I have my first faction (Ash & Oak) fully prepared, more or less ready for play, and the time has come to start something new for Wolsung. The Triad of Lotus Dragon is one of the coolest faction. If …

Wargaming in Phillipines.

I’ve been travelling for some time now. Australia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and at very end – Philippines. That was cool run, that slowly comes to conclusion. My last month, here in Asia I’ll spend in Koh Chang, Thailand, trying to bring together work, leisure and hobby of course… To be frank, I’m quite exited how my last weeks going to look like. Nice guest house to stay, well known area, everything so organised – just perfectly suited for my needs. Perfect ending of my few months travelling adventure. Slowly, I’m preparing myself to write finial chapter of Asian Game of Travel, summarising all that happened to me in past few months… but first I’d like to give you insight of what and who I’ve encountered in Philippines last weekend. I had great time in Philippines. First two week of relaxation on two islands – Panglao and Bohol, and then weekend in big city – Manila. Manila, as capital of Philippines is also the place where there’s the largest wargaming community. Stores, clubs, gamers – …

Infinity: More Moderators.

Another batch of miniatures ready. Recently I’ve adjusted the way how I paint them. So far I have been painting one model at the time, but recently I’ve decided to change the tactics. I paint at least three models simultaneously. This is efficient way of painting, but I need to be settled down for at lest few days. Setting up my painting station and juggling between minis for one day…hmmm…no can do…too lazy for that:). …but when I was staying on Panglao Island, I have been able to set up my workplace for a little bit longer (10 days near to lovely Alona Beach – charming place!) and I could work on three minis at the same time without the hassle. Advantages. First of all I do not get bored so easily. Diversity is the key. If I fell like painting faces, I paint face, but in actual moment I want to paint the base or, let’s say, pants, I do so. I can jump from one model to another, whenever I want to. The …

Where Gor-Rok has gone?

This one is special. At many several levels special. It took me few days to paint this ugly reptile bastard. I don’t know how many hours exactly, but it was really time consuming. I wanted this guy to look as neat as possible. Of course, there’s high chance that I could put more effort, but you know, that way, I could have painting it forever;). At some point, you need to say: Basta! Enough! and assume it’s over. I had nice conditions to paint at Panglao Island, so I grabbed this opportunity and paint as much as possible there. Lovely patio almost all day in shade. There was no other option than paint:). So, here it is – Gor-Rok. The Great White Lizard. Great, very enjoyable model to paint. Albino skin means it is al white (obviously, duh…), and white means the model is needed to be painted patiently and with care. Several, thin, watered layers of paint, very little wash and white paint used only as mix with grey. Rather annoying for me, as …

The travel continues – Red Comet Store – Penang, Malaysia

The travel goes on. I had some break from writing here anything connected with travel. Recently write only about my progress in painting. Actually, I paint like crazy in last two weeks. I had pretty good run and I did not want to interfere with it. However, I still have one more place to write about. So, I get myself off from the paints and brushes for a moment and I’m going back to the place I’ve visited few weeks ago. I have in mind one particular and special place for me. Georgetown, Penang Island in Malaysia. Few years ago I’ve stayed in Georgetown for over a month and I absolutely fell in love in that city. To be completely frank, I’m not sure what has happened – I just love the place. Period. Mixture of post-colonial and Asian households. Topitty top cuisine. And amazing people. Chinese, Malay, Indian and Europeans. Absolutely unique. This time I’ve stayed in Georgetown only for 10 days, which had to be enough to overcome my nostalgia. Well, I know …

Next Neverborn Master – Pandora

I must admit – my actual painting conditions I have right now, here on Panglao Island, are far from ideal. I set up my painting station at the patio. The chair is uncomfortable, the table is too low, humidity in the air is barely tolerable and it’s hot, hot, HOT. Despite all of this, I have pretty good run with painting miniatures. I’ve finished Zero for Infinity recently, and now my next mini is ready. Pandora, Neverborn Master for Malifaux. Malifaux along with Infinity, is one of my side skirmish projects, I’d like to finally develop to the level I could easily play with plenty of options. So far, I had only one Master painted (Lilith, Mother of Monsters) for my Neverborn faction. Pandora from ‘No Shelter Here’ boxset is from now on – the second. To be honest, I don’t have any particular strategy, how to develop my crew. Generally, I act the same for all game system I play. I simply buy miniatures I like and it would be awesome to paint. The …

Zero.

Hello again. Another model is finished. Actually I’m (surprise, surprise:) little bit ahead of my schedule. The model I’m about to present now – Zero for Nomads Bakunin Sectorial Army  (Infinity The Game)… and beside that, I’m on the pretty decent run right now – one more mini is ready for presentation – Pandora, my second Master for Neverborn, Malfaux. All I need is to make some proper photo session. Tomorrow, most probably. …but today I have Zero. The thing is, for the last month I was sooooo occupied with Blood Angles for Warhammer 40000. Well, as painting the Space Marines was kind of rewarding job, I must admit, all those guys look almost the same! Various poses, few details making the difference – but generally, it’s all about red, red and red one more time… no, wait… plus black bolter;). Definitely I needed the break from Adeptus Astartes. Hope The inquisition will not mind… And what’s better for a break from Wh40k than painting a model for Infinity.  Infinity minis are in some kind …

Wira Games & Hobbies in Kuala Lumpur

It has been some time since I posted any travel related article here. It’s my last day here in Thailand, after glorious two weeks in Koh Lanta. I still have some stories to tell from Malaysia and now I want (and need!) catch up with all overdue posts. After Indonesia, I’ve stopped for few days in Kuala Lumpur. I’ve met my good old friends. I’ve drunk my beloved teh tarik and ate tons of tanroori chicken with naan (de-li-cious!) …and I also have taken the trip to Petaling Jaya District to vist Wira Games and Hobbies Store. Petaling Jaya district is easy to get. An it’s not far away from KL Sentral train station. It’s  about 20 minutes by commuter train. So, the trip from my hotel should be around 30-40 minutes. Should…because thanks to very friendly and helpful taxi driver I was there in 10 minutes for about 20 RM (about 5USD :). Since, the store was open from 12 PM, and I was little bit earlier – I drank one more teh tarik …

Hail to Blood Angels!

Few days ago I’ve managed to finish Terminators Squad for my growing Blood Angels army. It took me some time to finish those, but it was quite satisfying work. Terminators are super cool models  and it was really fun to put colours on them. Probably, the whole Terminators project did not occupy me for so much time, If I won’t work simultaneously on other Blood Angels. Tactical Squad. All together – all 15 miniatures – took me almost a month to paint them all. After all this time – they are finally done. It was the matter of perseverance, I guess. I painted few hours a day (if that was possible of course). I used every spare moment, all my free time to paint these minis.  And here they are. Of course, I could have concentrated even more. One month for even 15 models is way too long. The next batch of Space Marines (definitely not in near future), I hope will not be that time consuming. If I could short it to two weeks …

Blood Angels Terminators (Finally!)

Edit (24.02.2016): I updated photos in this post. Old ones had too much blue in the background and it was distorting whole colour scheme of miniatures. New ones are better imho. The Day has come. After almost a month, I’ve finally finished painting Blood Angels. Terminators Squad – they were first (simultaneously I worked on Tactical Squad – just few final touches to go) so, Ladies and Gentlemen – let me present you. My first Warhammer 40k Blood Angels Chapter squad – Terminators. Well, to be entirely honest – I started these Terminators in July 2015. I was hoping, I’ll be able to finish them in a week or two… but something came out. Right now, I’m not sure what exactly – but if I’m remember it correctly – I was forced to postpone Terminators, because all of the sudden – I needed some Skaven for upcoming battle. Classic change of priorities:). So, few months later. Few thousands km away – I’ve decided to get back to Terminators. The squad you are looking at is …
