Amethyst Wizard aka I’m home again!

Oh, my! I’m home again! Whatever that means, of course:) During past five years I was changing countries and cities so many times, that now It’s hard for me to find the most desirable place to live. However, Poland is the country where my friends and family live, where’s absolutely the best food in the world (Polish donuts rocks!) and if I like it or not – I pay taxes. So, let’s face it – Poland is my home, even though – I’m here for less than 6 months during the year. I arrived one week ago, and I had plenty of things over my head. Arranging new flat, getting all my stuff from my mother’s attic, getting internet connection. And one week later – here I am. Rested, willing and happy to paint and write! The break made me even more enthusiastic about all this hobby deal. So, let’s rock n roll! All is set up and ready for action. I already unpacked all miniatures I had with me in Asia. Ow, wow. There …

To Empire, or not to Empire? This is the question…

Good question indeed. …but let me explain. Few months ago I grabbed awesome bargain for some miniatures for Warhammer Empire. It’s was basicly a steal, so I couldn’t resist. I purchased then: 2 Plastic Wizards, Unit of Empire Knights and Warrior Priest. That was 100% impulse purchase. No time to think – the deal was so cheap, I had to act quick. So, I did… …and what next? Should I expand this basics to the level that I’ll have actual army? Or just paint this few minis for fun and leave them as they are. Or, on the other hand, I could sell these minis after I paint them on Ebay. So, Empire or not to Empire? To be honest, I’m not sure if I’m able to collect one more army. I’m already overworked with painting minis. Yeah, this is not a big problem, cause I like to paint. The thing is, my collection grows in little bit dangerous pace. All of the sudden, I have too many unpainted miniatures and if I don’t resist …

The Pestilens is spreading!

Oh, that was precious time in Thailand. Well, in Asia in general. I had huge doze of fun here and for sure I’m going to miss whole region – my favourite Malaysia, but also other countries. I plan to get back here, not in near future, but probably in about 2 years I want to visit this area again. Right now – destination Warsaw, Poland and I’m going to settle down there for few months. Exactly like one year before, when I got back from Central America. …but for now, I’m still in Thailand. Last 5 days. And I have few miniatures already painted, photographed and ready to be presented here. First mini from this new batch, is Skaven Plague Priest for Warhammer Fantasy Battle (how to tell a difference between WHFB and Age of Sigmar these days? It’s simple – if the base is squared – it’s WHFB, and if it’s round – it’s AoS ;P ). The model comes from the plastic kit Screaming Bell/Plague Furnace, that provides two assembling options. I’ve decided …

Lustria for Life – Skink Shaman

This one is special. Miniatures Sell/buy/swap Facebook group few weeks ago has organised painting competition and I’ve decided to participate. This is no ‘big deal’ competition, so it was clearly for me I can join in and have fun with no reason to worry if I have any chance to win it or not. The thing is I have no idea, who is in, skills of the participants or for instance that the whole competition is open – no limits, no categories. Imagination is the limit:). And this is cool, actually. No pressure for me, and since I wanted to paint Skink Shaman anyway, I could submit him. There are around 70-80 participants, so my chances to win one of the prices (gift vouchers for bitz and models) are not so big. However, one thing is certain – this competition has given me the certain boost. I have put more than usual effort to finish the mini. I have given it something extra. At least I’ve tried:). Skink Shaman is amazing model. It came from …

Wh40k Narrative Campaign – Fading Suns of Corinth Sector

March 15th. Less than 3 weeks and I’m going back home. I had awesome time in Australia ans South-East Asia, but like all good things, it has to end eventually. So, last two weeks in Thailand and off I go to Warsaw. Warsaw in March. Grey, rainy, gloomy and cold place. Oh, I’ll have plenty of reasons to complain about:). However… …in Poland I’ll have so many options to play and shops where I can buy miniatures and painting stuff. After few months of travelling, settled way of life will be a blessing for my hobby. And first order of the day has already been scheduled:). I’ve applied with my Blood Angels army to Warhammer 40000 narrative campaign organized by my friend Jan in Warsaw. Campaign starts next week but I was able to persuade the boss to count me in and play me turn a little bit later. This post is first of the series about “Fading Suns of Sector Corinth” campaign. The campaign will last for next few months and envisage at least …

Where Gor-Rok has gone?

This one is special. At many several levels special. It took me few days to paint this ugly reptile bastard. I don’t know how many hours exactly, but it was really time consuming. I wanted this guy to look as neat as possible. Of course, there’s high chance that I could put more effort, but you know, that way, I could have painting it forever;). At some point, you need to say: Basta! Enough! and assume it’s over. I had nice conditions to paint at Panglao Island, so I grabbed this opportunity and paint as much as possible there. Lovely patio almost all day in shade. There was no other option than paint:). So, here it is – Gor-Rok. The Great White Lizard. Great, very enjoyable model to paint. Albino skin means it is al white (obviously, duh…), and white means the model is needed to be painted patiently and with care. Several, thin, watered layers of paint, very little wash and white paint used only as mix with grey. Rather annoying for me, as …

Wira Games & Hobbies in Kuala Lumpur

It has been some time since I posted any travel related article here. It’s my last day here in Thailand, after glorious two weeks in Koh Lanta. I still have some stories to tell from Malaysia and now I want (and need!) catch up with all overdue posts. After Indonesia, I’ve stopped for few days in Kuala Lumpur. I’ve met my good old friends. I’ve drunk my beloved teh tarik and ate tons of tanroori chicken with naan (de-li-cious!) …and I also have taken the trip to Petaling Jaya District to vist Wira Games and Hobbies Store. Petaling Jaya district is easy to get. An it’s not far away from KL Sentral train station. It’s  about 20 minutes by commuter train. So, the trip from my hotel should be around 30-40 minutes. Should…because thanks to very friendly and helpful taxi driver I was there in 10 minutes for about 20 RM (about 5USD :). Since, the store was open from 12 PM, and I was little bit earlier – I drank one more teh tarik …

Hail to Blood Angels!

Few days ago I’ve managed to finish Terminators Squad for my growing Blood Angels army. It took me some time to finish those, but it was quite satisfying work. Terminators are super cool models  and it was really fun to put colours on them. Probably, the whole Terminators project did not occupy me for so much time, If I won’t work simultaneously on other Blood Angels. Tactical Squad. All together – all 15 miniatures – took me almost a month to paint them all. After all this time – they are finally done. It was the matter of perseverance, I guess. I painted few hours a day (if that was possible of course). I used every spare moment, all my free time to paint these minis.  And here they are. Of course, I could have concentrated even more. One month for even 15 models is way too long. The next batch of Space Marines (definitely not in near future), I hope will not be that time consuming. If I could short it to two weeks …

Blood Angels Terminators (Finally!)

Edit (24.02.2016): I updated photos in this post. Old ones had too much blue in the background and it was distorting whole colour scheme of miniatures. New ones are better imho. The Day has come. After almost a month, I’ve finally finished painting Blood Angels. Terminators Squad – they were first (simultaneously I worked on Tactical Squad – just few final touches to go) so, Ladies and Gentlemen – let me present you. My first Warhammer 40k Blood Angels Chapter squad – Terminators. Well, to be entirely honest – I started these Terminators in July 2015. I was hoping, I’ll be able to finish them in a week or two… but something came out. Right now, I’m not sure what exactly – but if I’m remember it correctly – I was forced to postpone Terminators, because all of the sudden – I needed some Skaven for upcoming battle. Classic change of priorities:). So, few months later. Few thousands km away – I’ve decided to get back to Terminators. The squad you are looking at is …

Battle Report: Warhammer 40k – Blood Angels vs Eldars (1000 points)

In last post I wrote how I got to Fantasy ‘N Games Store in Jakarta, Indonesia. Really cool place with great community. If I can only had time, probably I could have played three battles, or maybe more. Unfortunately I arranged my time there so poorly , so I had only one free day to visit the stores, so therefore I was able to play only one game. So. The game: Warhammer 40k. Opponent: Gerald and his Eldars. My army: personal detachment of Blood Angels (Sanguinary Priest, Tactical Squad and Terminator Squad) plus some local Blood Angels borrowed from Aldo, local gamer (many thanks!, you are The Boss!). So, it’s time for next Game of Travel battle report, straight from Jakarta. Background Brother Gamaliel was badly wounded during the battle on planet Baan consumed by dark forces of Chaos, but he managed to get to last evacuation transport from this wicked place before its destruction. His last task in As.S1.A sector was to get rid of aliens from the planet designated as JK001 on the …
