Battle Report: Warhammer 40k – Blood Angels vs Eldars (1000 points)

In last post I wrote how I got to Fantasy ‘N Games Store in Jakarta, Indonesia. Really cool place with great community. If I can only had time, probably I could have played three battles, or maybe more. Unfortunately I arranged my time there so poorly , so I had only one free day to visit the stores, so therefore I was able to play only one game. So. The game: Warhammer 40k. Opponent: Gerald and his Eldars. My army: personal detachment of Blood Angels (Sanguinary Priest, Tactical Squad and Terminator Squad) plus some local Blood Angels borrowed from Aldo, local gamer (many thanks!, you are The Boss!). So, it’s time for next Game of Travel battle report, straight from Jakarta. Background Brother Gamaliel was badly wounded during the battle on planet Baan consumed by dark forces of Chaos, but he managed to get to last evacuation transport from this wicked place before its destruction. His last task in As.S1.A sector was to get rid of aliens from the planet designated as JK001 on the …

Fantasy ‘N Games – your place in Jakarta

Wow! Time, indeed is passing by so fast! Less than two weeks ago I was in Jakarta celebrating New Year’s Eve. Then – Kuala Lumpur for few Days and Penang, Malaysia and finally today it’s my last day here. I’ve realised, I haven’t done much for this blog and for my hobby in general during past two weeks. I’ve been in so many cool places. I’ve met so many nice gamers in Indonesia and Malaysia so I should have written few posts by now. But I haven’t. And also I’m kind of stuck in the progress on Blood Angles, currently I’m working on… What the hell, just happened? Of course, I have my excuses, but it’s a weak man’s thing. I should have pulled myself together and go back to work. After all, painting and wargaming is so much fun:). Luckly, I’ve done all of my ‘day job’ urgent fork and I can spend more time for more pleasant activities. No more excuses. Back to work! First. I have to finish Blood Angels  this week …

Battle Report: Warhammer 40k – Blood Angels vs Chaos Space Marines (750 points)

Last week I’ve visited Battlefield Bangkok store in Thailand. Great place and great people are working there! After short conversation via Facebook, they arranged the battle against Chaos Space Marines for me. Jack, one of the employees from the store was about to be my opponent. We agreed to play 750 points battle. I used, as always, my two travelling squads of Blood Angels (one Tactical and one Terminators) plus Sanguniary Priest. This time I managed to paint them a little bit. Still, loots of work to do, but at least you can see red on the table and that’s progress. I borrowed few Dark Angles models from the store cabinet to complete my Army list. Really, appreciate that – I’m really grateful for possibility of borrowing models from store collection. Thank you guys! Background Story The time has come. The heresy is about to be purged. Exeteminatus has been ordered for planet of Baan. Several cults of Chaos were detected,  infiltrating local society for decades spreading the rot on the living flesh of Imperium …

Age of Sigmar thoughts. Part 2

Few days ago, Daniel has commented my post from August 2015, that describes my impressions after first game of Warhammer: Age of Sigmar. The comment is long and comprehensive. Daniel points out, what in his opinion, is exactly Age of Sigmar and why it shouldn’t be compared to previous editions of Warhammer Fantasy Battle. First, I’ve started to respond to the comment under my original post, but when I’ve realised it’s going to be also quite long text, I made a decision not to put it in comment section of the blog, but publish it as regular, separate post. Few conclusions have not changed, few I describe in details and most of all I make reference to comment of Daniel. Original post, and Daniel’s comment is here.  First of all, I’d like to thank Daniel for such long elaborate comment. It’s so awesome that actually someone took a moment to read my AoS post and counterpoint my impressions. I will try to refer to all  points included in Daniel’s comment. The thing is – my …

Game of Travel in Thailand – Battlefield Bangkok Store

My time on Koh Chang has come to the end. It was great 17 days. Little bit of work, but also I’ve found the time for relax – sun bathing, swimming in the sea or simply walking around…plus painting miniatures of course:). Mostly Blood Angels – I need 15 of them to be painted (almost finished, but still few hours to complete…). After Koh Chang I moved to Bangkok for few days. In Bangkok i Had spelendid weekend as well. I’ve eaten some long missed western food (pizza!), watched new Star Wars movie (pew, pew, pew), paint more Space Marines and most of all I’ve visited great wargaming store – Battlefield Bangkok. I’ve been in Bangkok few times before (6 or 7 I suppose), but I’ve been to Battlefield Bangkok only once. It was two years ago – I haven’t even dreamt about running a blog about my travel or playing battles abroad. That was my second time in Asia and I’ve brought with me only 5-6 models to paint. I remember I bought back …

Miniatures’ Photography (…while travel)

I’ve started this blog in February 2015. And from the day one, one of my major issues is how to take good pictures of my miniatures. At very beginning, I had at my disposal only old compact Canon camera. And it was disaster – there was no chance to take proper miniature photos with this piece of crap. The only good thing I could say about this junk – it was pink. Yeah, nice pink colour – my wife really liked this:). …and the moment for starting miniature blog was kind of unfortunate. During that time I was staying in Puerto Viejo in Costa Rica (almost a month there), and believe me, while this coastal Caribbean town is absolutely stunning (sun, sea, sloths and stuff;), there is not many stuff to buy, if you want to improve your photography skills (I mean: buy better equipment). Luckily, we already have some saved cash for better camera, and the only issue was – finding the store with adequate hardware… The opportunity arrived when we moved to Mexico …

Battle Report: Warhammer 40k – Blood Angels vs Raven Guard (750 points)

Recently I’ve written about impressions I got from my visit in Singapore’s hobby store  – Gamers@PI (link here). I’ve spent awesome evening there – chatting, gossiping (wargaming stuff only:) and making few new friendships. …and beside that I’ve played great battle of Warhammer 40k  with one of the store’s employees – Aaron. My Blood Angels vs his Raven guard. It was only 750 points (we haven’t got too much time), but it still was fun. My major issue about this battle and battle report – how to explain that Blood Angles were fighting with their brothers – Raven Guard. It was tough nut to crack – two loyalist chapters fighting each other? Very unlikely. I needed something to spice up the background story a little and make it believable. I needed Raven Guard force to turn renegade and stand against Imperium (I hope Aaron will not mind this sudden change of sides:). Second issue – my models are still unpainted. I’ve finished Sanguinary Priest and nothing except that. Tactical squad –  black prim and Terminators …

Tiny metal steam dragons

I found very little time to paint during past few days. I needed to catch up with my daily work (which thankfully I can do online sitting in Thailand on tropical island:))… but it had to change finally. I need to paint – it is probably one addiction I have. No booze, no drugs, just a sweet taste of acrylic paint on the tip of my brush (yes, I admit – I’m brush licker:). …so, after few days of break I set up my paint station in brand new place again (this time – Koh Chang) and start paint. And I needed something easy and quick to get back on track. These small steampunk dragons from Wolsung (Triad of Lotus Dragon faction) were just perfect for that. These three Golemic Dragonlings are super cute. This kind of dangerous cute, if you know what I mean. It happens from time to time – when a hero encounters some cute creature which at some point all of the sudden is crazy killing machine. Something like rabbits from …

Next stop – Singapore. Gamers@PI Store

Well, despite the title of the post, Sinagpore is not my next stop. It was, that’s true, but it was around ten days ago. Right now I’m having great time in Koh Chang, Thailand. Before Thailand, yes – I was three days (well, two nights to be exact:) in Singapore. I must say – I love Singapore. I don’t know exactly why – but the mixture of so many cultures stuffed in one place, makes me feel really good about this city. I really feel like home there. Some day – I will settle there, at least for few years – that’s my resolution. …but anyway, during my short visit in Singapore I managed somehow to find and visit one hobby store. Google search always help in such situations. From few choices – I picked Gamers@PI Store. It was crazy visit, believe me. I landed at 4pm Friday  and right away after I get to my hotel (2 hours later), I took quick shower and rush to visit Gamers@PI. There are few hobby stores in …
