Pulp City. Interview with Maciej Żylewicz, creator of the game.

Today something entirely different. After Warhammer, Malifaux or Infinity time for some refreshing change, some new and fresh content. Have you ever heard about miniature skirmish game ‘Pulp City‘? If no, time to get familiar with the game. Following text is the interview I made with Maciej Żylewicz, creator ad designer of ‘Pulp City’. From interview you will get insight what ‘Pulp City’ is actually about, where to start, how to play and where it’s going. I spoke with Maciej in September 2015 . It has been some time, I know, but I left Poland in October 2015 and I was away from home for few months. We were supposed to make demonstration game right after the interview, but some things just messed up a little, and we couldn’t sync our calendars. Right now, we finally made it and I also finally played ‘Pulp City’ (which was awesome!) and I can give you my thoughts and impressions of actual gameplay. …but this will be in next post. Now, the interview. Enjoy! Disclaimer: Few things in …

Summary of Painting Fever

For the last week (more like two weeks I think) I was painting like crazy. I was painting  during every spare moment I had. Waking up early in the morning, going to sleep late night. Well, from time to time I catch this painting fever and I can’t stop. …and to be honest, I feel good with that. Almost no time for any other leisure activities, just regular work, family life and paint, paint, paint… That’s life, I tell you that. If I could repeat that cycle all over again for longer period of time, I’d not complain at all. Painting with small dose of gaming activity took over my life by storm. And I’m glad – after one year of intensive work on wide and various ranges of miniatures, I can easily say – I can’t imagine any miniature, I wouldn’t like to paint. There are always some small things in every model I see I would like to work on. And I don’t think there’s something that would discourage me to do so. …

Battle Report: Warhammer Fantasy Battle 5th Ed. – Skaven vs Dwarfs (2000 points)

Another battle report coming your way! And I’m back to The Old World and good old 5th edition of Warhammer Fantasy Battle once again. The battle – my Skaven vs Remo’s Dwarfs – 2000 points. If any of the rules, skills, magical items or simply anything is unclear, just ask. I am more than willing to answer all questions about 5th edition. This battle was really special for me. I had quite a break from WHFB in general, and even longer from Herohammer (as sometimes 5th edition is called), so it was big reunion for me. Remo came to Warsaw from Opole (300 km away) to attend to Warhammer Fantasy tournament the next day, so we grabbed this opportunity to play the battle. I was speed painting Plague Monks for entire two weeks, just to be able to use them in the battle. So, please ignore their bright green hoods – they will get proper look any time soon. I promise:) The battle took place in Bunkier Hobby Store in Warsaw. Perfect place for battles. …

The Eater of Sins.

Busy, but exciting month behind me. Few games, few miniatures done (just waiting to be photographed and presented here), and then I’ve realised that I still have one more (the very last) model, that I’ve painted in Thailand, back in early days of March 2016 (or even in February). I’m referring to Sin-Eater Observant for Nomads, Infinity, one of the last models I plan to paint to support my Nomads, Bakunin force. At least for some time. My other projects require my unwavering attention. (disclaimer: Infinity players do not read that!;). Blood Angles is number one priority right now. …but let’s stick to Sin-Eater Observant for now. Next week, I’ll finally get my first tutorial game of Infinity. Found the guy willing to spare few hours for me and teach the mechanics in actual gameplay. I was prepering myself for some time now. Reading rules and watching tutorials and battle reports, but there’s nothing like the living tutor to show you what Infinity is all about. So, next week, Wednesday or Thursday, I go to …

Battle Report: Warhammer 40k – Blood Angels vs Dark Angels (1500 points)

It’s been some time since the last battle report I wrote and I must say, I really missed that:). The next battle – Warhammer 40000 Blood Angels vs Jan’s Dark Angles 1500 points was part of our local narrative campaign – Fading Suns of Corinth Sector. First of the series of 6 to 8 battles. The story so far: Ancient race of Necrons set up their mysterious machinery that require massive amounts of power. Star after star was drained of the energy to fuel up the device. Mystery of fading  suns of Corinth caught attention of wise men from all over Empire. Several Space Marines chapters were sent to investigate. Greenskins followed them, hoping for  good fight…and Chaos… they have their own secret agenda there… Scenario My Blood Angels faced Dark Angels in the first turn of the campaign. 1500 points. Battle Forged Armies. Blood Angels defend in this battle. 50% of the army set up normally in the deployment zone. Second half is in the reserves and enter form the second turn with usual …

Bright flame on the wind

Small break on the blog. Sorry for that. The last week was crazy busy for me. I was prepering for two events. First, good old Herohammer battle against Dwarfs and second, small tournament of WHFB 8th edition. My Skaven needed some few tweaks – bases, banners, or just simple corrections of my old painting job… …not to mentioning – whole regiment of Plague Monks were simply unpainted. Yeah, busy week… but it all turned out perfectly – I  lost all battles, but my minis did well. All painted and willing to die… sorry, fight. Reports will come to Game of Travel soon. Now, everything relaxed a little. No hurry, no deadlines, no need to paint Skaven anymore (at least for now). I can paint whatever I want. I have few ideas, but first… the model I painted right before Skaven rush. Warhammer Fantasy Bright Wizard. Part of two miniatures blister I bought some time ago. First wizard – from Amethyst Collage, you can see here. And the second – Bright Collage of Magic, painted about …

Reverend Custodier of Infinity

Settled for a while now. It’s been a month already since I got back from Asia and it’s starting to be some king of fading memory. It’s always like that – sitting in Poland, hidden in my room with the cup of tea in my hand. Watching the rain outside, and talking to myself: what the hell am I doing here? Cold, wet and grey. My everlasting Polish impression. I miss bright colours and sunny hot days. Remind me, why exactly I returned here? Oh, wait I remember – one of the main reasons I’m here again is that I’m miniatures freak. I can’t be apart from them for too long or I go crazy (friends and family are also here:). So, Poland again. …but I have few more stuff I painted in Thailand. Like this Reverend Custodier model for Nomads, Infinity. Painted her some time ago in my last days on Koh Chang, but so far I had no opportunity to shoot proper photos and write a few things about her. It’s my second …

Fading Suns of Corinth Warhammer 40000 campaign. Turn 1

Few weeks ago, I joined to a group of friends to play Warhammer 40000 narrative campaign. Fading Suns of Corinth sector is the story of mysterious Necron activity and the clash of few armies attracted by the riddle of Corinth. Soon the campaign is about to start. The first battle is already scheduled for April 10th. So, it’s time to start the preparations. The scenario The story is at very start. Eight armies came to the sector to check Necron plot. My Blood Angels were forced to deal with Dark Angles. 1500 points. Blood Angels are trying to set up a base site on one of the planets. Unfortunately for both sides, Dark Angels chose the very same site, but arrived a moment later. Attack was commenced, and the battle was on. Blood Angels defend their base. 50% of the army set up normally in the deployment zone. Second half is in the reserves and enter form the second turn with usual reserves rules. Dark Angels do not deploy in normal fashion, but all …

The Wight King

Few months ago I had this uncontrolled urge to buy miniature. Well, to be frank, I got this all the time 9who hasn’t? :), but now I buy miniatures I really need, or at least I think I need:). But few months ago – I was totally out of control. I saw bargains almost everywhere – and well, there were maybe steep discount, true that, but if I really needed so many Warhammer Fantasy Battle Empire models? Or this Wight King I painted last week? The answer is: I don’t have a clue:). The truth is, I really like to paint. It is recently my only leisure activity – I paint few hours a day, sometimes even longer. Sometimes, strolling across internet I stumble upon some sweet deal – I can’t resist – I imagine how cool I could paint that model and it everything else is too blurry – bid, add to the card, pay… and all of the sudden I have this Wight King in my collection, not entirely sure how I could …

Bakunin Sniper

Ok. Back to Infinity. Actually few weeks ago, when I was still in Thailand, I painted three Infinity Nomads miniatures. So, be aware this is no recent miniature. One of the three – it was this Moderator Multi Sniper. The Sniper of Nomads Jurisdictional Bakunin Force is kind of not usual model, when you think about usual Infinity sculpts. My first impression is always like – dynamic poses, sculpted fragile, with so many elements so difficult to pin, glue and assemble. And this guy? Crouched, hidden behind the cover. Easy to get it together, easy to paint and easy to transport (unlike many other miniatures from Corvus Belli!). I bet it looks cool  on the battlefield. Deploying this guy on the rooftop of the tallest building, watching for all area, controlling every enemy move. Very cinematic. The only problem is that he’s nothing like this Hollywood sniper bad-asses with crazy awesome shooting skills. He’s just simple mediocre Moderator. He will not take total control over entire battlefield. Too bad. About painting job. I went to …
