3rd Polish Oldhammer Weekend (20-21.10.2018) report

This is something! 3rd year in a row we’re doing this. And it’s still kicking! Polish annual Oldhammer Weekend. This time we moved to Katowice to Inny Wymiar gaming store and club (eng. Another Dimension) for two days (20-21. October 2018). This is really huge deal for me, being part of it. And despite, it’s not entirely Oldhammer /ruleswise, minitureswise), the weekend is always something huge and worth to wait entire year for it. During the weekend we play Warhamer Fantasy 5th edition. Whole weekend is dedicated to it – several scenarios, organised in a campaign. With such approach – the games are handled to the players by the organisers. Restrictions – such as WYSIWYG or friendly reminder that we are adults and we should have all our minis painted (no exceptions!) shouldn’t be things to worry about… But, some folks in Poland still think Warhammer is not about making your armies fancy, and they want to play with pure lead or plastic. On this event we would like to remind everything what’ s exactly …

Personal projects tab

For the last couple of years I was working on a few personal projects of mine. And some of them are at certain stages of completion. So, instead to write several posts with the pictures and full description – I decided to set up separate tabs on the header menu. Each tab will lead you to the site about one of my projects. Pictures and background story. It’s going to be all there. Gathered in one place and easier to find. For starters – My Warhammer Fantasy Altdorf army. Here’s the link. Of course , it’s an on going thing. There are so many miniatures in my storage still waiting to be painted and I plan to do so. Next in line to cover are: Imperial Fists for Warhammer 40000 and Chaos for Warhammer Fantasy. I’ll inform you about any updates in separate posts. Cheers!

For Altdorf. A little update for Empire army.

Oh, that was a long time since I  presented my recent painting efforts here. And it’s not that I didn’t want to, but seriously, September and October was a crazy busy time for me. First, I had a ton of work in my day job. Second, I moved back to Poland (by a car. God bless my good ol’ Nissan Micra. Oh, yes. It’s manageable. But don’t ask how:). Third, there was a pile of miniatures I was painting on commission. And finally, fourth – I need to write a crazy amount of content for Polish Oldhammer Weekend. It took me ages, to arrange all scenarios, rules and background. However, it was all worth it. The review – coming soon. …but, no matter what, I did found a spare time to paint something extra for one of my personal projects. At the moment, my Warhammer Fantasy Empire Altdorf Army is still number one. There are a few models I need to paint, and few corrections I need to make to some already finished. But I’m …

2nd Polish Oldhammer Weekend 21-22th October 2017. Warsaw

Another radio silence on my blog. However, I have a pretty good reason for that. Last year I got involved all of the sudden into a organisation of Polish Oldhammer Weekend. And this year, once again I went for it. With a group of friends we are doing it. And I tell you, it involved a substantial amount of work and creativity. Not so much time left for painting (definitely slower tempo in this area) and for regular blogging. But, man! I wrote so much content for this in recent weeks, that my brain hurts. And there’s a lot to be prepared. First of all, the whole weekend will be constructed as big narrative campaign with lots of battles, plots and twists where all players will be involved. First day will be a set of battles where the players will gaining bonuses for the day two. And day two, little bit easier on the rules and restrictions, but bringing a ton of joy. Day two will be a grand finale – all players on one …

For Altdorf. The Empire project update. Part 2

I work like crazy. I paint like a madman! I do this and that – no time to relax. Too many miniatures to paint! Go! Go! Go! Today I go back to my current primary personal project. Oldhammer Empire Altdorf army. I build it to fit WHFB 4th edition army book – so according to the timeline and definition is more like Middlehammer, but who cares. The composition of the army will fit any edition and any game system. From 3rd to 8th, plus Age of Sigmar/ unlikely;)/. I want to be open with the idea. In last Altdorf Project Update Post I presented to you Karl Franz, The Emperor himself, plus his most faithful state troops. It was March and the goal back then was to prepare the miniatures for upcoming BOYL Oldhammer Weekend in July 2017. Well, long story short – I made it (with almost everything. In my last regiment of Knights Panther, the highlights are at the beginning stage. I’ll finish this soon) and I was able to field the army …

Bring Out Your Lead 2017. Newbie in Nothinghamshire

Oh, there were a pretty nasty blog silence for a last months. Super busy with other activities (still hobby related sometimes though), I was forced to put my blog off track for some time. Reality. Simple as that. …oh well, I know I’m making excuses and I should write here from time to time to keep this blog alive, but sometime you just get into slump and there’s no other way around. Hopefully it’s over. So let’s go with it one more time. And today’s is pretty amazing story to tell. The report from 5th Bring Out Your Lead (BOYL) Oldhammer Weekend 2017 that was held as usual at Foundry‘s HQ in East Stoke near Newark on Trent, UK (27-30th July 2017). It was my very first Oldhammer Weekend, and therefore it the whole enterprise were pretty exceptional for me. Not knowing what exactly to except, I was super pumped up. I made up my mind in February and with no hesitation I booked the flights and the hotel. There was no turning back for …

For Altdorf. The Empire project update. Part 1

As stated in previous entry, at the moment I’m in the middle of prepering a new Warhammer Fantasy army. It’s The Empire Altdorf based on the 4th edition Army book (most awesome of times for Empire models in my opinion). So, expect The Empire posts from time to time. There will be a few updates in following months. The army need to be ready for BOYL 2017 Oldhammer Weekend in July, and there are plenty of miniatures to paint. And since I’m on a break from my travelling life, settled down in a small town near Barcelona (at least for a year), I have lot of free time to spend on my hobby. There is no better year than this to start a new army. In last post, I presented my first regiment. Core unit of every Empire province – The Halberdiers. And now it’s the time to add a few bosses to lead those folks to victory. Today’s guests are: Karl Franz That’s right. The man himself. The beloved Emperor. There is no better …

Glory to The Empire!

This post is the first one of many about my next big thing on Warhammer Fantasy Battle. I’m going in deep and hard into The Empire army. Oh, gosh. I’m little bit overwhelmed with my ideas and plans for next few months. I was playing Skaven by far, and I remember how much time it took me to paint all the models for the army. I was exhausted and bored at the same time. Too many miniatures of the same type – it can be tiresome. So why I’m putting myself into this by starting to collect another Warhammer Fantasy army? A  few reasons First. I love Warhammer Fantasy. Models and Old World setting. With coming of Age of Sigmar, when initial disappointment went off, I realised that Games Workshop in fact made me a huge favour. Now, I was assured, there’s no new rules nor models will be released and Warhammer Fantasy is the closed chapter. I could finally concentrate on my favourite armies and miniatures, and not to be worried, that new army …

Polish Oldhammer Weekend – The Grand Battle

As promised, I go with the follow up story of Polish Oldhammer Weekend (17/18th September 2016, Warsaw). This entry will put focus on participating armies and the Grand Battle of Red Glade between forces of Good and Evil. In one of the recent posts, I described the day one of the weekend. To read the introduction, scenarios and the reports of the battles of 17h September, click here. And now,  the continuation. Before the Weekender, I asked every participant to send me the description or background story of his army. Every army is 2000 points and the army list supposed to be fixed for every of The Saturday battles and for Sunday Grand finale as well. Total points value is 10k! The Alliance of Good On the one hand there was no designated leader or general of The Good Alliance,  but I could sense in some way, that Remo Williams, General of Zhufbar Dwarf Expedition and author of the most of the scenarios of the Weekend had the lead role in the alliance. So let’s …

First Polish Oldhammer Weekend 17-18 September 2016

Today I prepared something truly special. As you probably recall (if you follow my blog carefully), I announced some time ago my participation in organisation of first Polish Oldhammer Weekend. As not that old as it may appeared (we were playing 1990s 5th edition of Warhammer Fantasy Battle), for me it was the beginning of my wargaming adventure. So it’s old enough for me and many others. Right now it’s time to sum up The Weekend. 10 gamers met in Warsaw Gentlemen’s Club for two days in September to play several battles combined into the campaign. First day was dedicated to play three smaller battles (2000 points) and the second – grand finale – 10000 points battle between good and evil. Sounds epic, right? And it was exactly like that. Two days- tiring but extremely exciting weekend, I tell you that. 10 gamers obsessed with older editions and vintage models. Every model painted. Games with no pressure  – 100% casual gaming. Happy days were back just for a moment. Background Story How to stop end …
