Bearers of Plague

I missed painting Skaven. I really did. After quite some time (over a month I think) during I was painting other stuff, finally I decided to go back rat army. It was too long, I tell you that. I find Skaven most rewarding and relaxing miniatures to paint, and there’s no way anything could beat that (that’s my personal opinion, so do net get angry or abused;). Of course, too many Skaven miniatures in the row will be too boring to handle, so that’s way I paint some different things from Warhammer and other games as well. There’s one thing certain – I will always go back to Skaven. They will always have priority when it comes to painting and gaming. Yes-yes! Anyway… these are my latest addition to my army. Plague Censer Bearers. Great models with really wicked rules included. At least for Warhammer Fantasy Battle (no matter the edition). I’m not sure how they work in Age of Sigmar (not a very big fan here;), but with no doubt these awesome minis will …

Painting Fever. Part 3

Hello there! I’m back with another batch of freshly painted minis. I haven’t got much time recently to paint, but during last 10 days I haven’t been entirely unproductive.  Oh, quite opposite – I resisted temptation of launching Warhammer: Total War and I dedicated all my free time to miniatures.  And that was crucial moment, believe me. New TW has any indications to be time vortex for me. I see myself getting into world of video games, and be lost, like, forever. And beside miniatures, I have family too! So, at least for now, thanks but no thanks. I say no to Total War. I stick to metal and plastic  (and resin:). It is enough fun:). What you see here is work I’ve done during last two weeks. Like I wrote, busy time right now – miniature painting has little bit lower priority at the moment. Despite that, I have this trio. Lady Ellendeane of Wolsung, Beastmen Shaman and Empire Catian for WHFB. That was the least I was able to paint recently. …but one …

Painting Fever. Volume 2

Ok. Time to sum up achievements of last few days. Well, more like weeks – because beside  few finishing touches on Queek Headtaker I haven’t painted in most efficient way. Two weeks and only 3 miniatures painted. Well, it could be better if you ask me, but still better this than nothing, right? 🙂 Today, I’d like to show you 3 models I was working on during past two weeks. Each of these three models is different and was chosen carefully to practice blending techniques with various selection of colours. On the other hand, if I would focus my efforts on one of my personal projects, the progress will be significant. The thing is, it would boring as hell. Diversification is the key. I paint what I would like to paint it particular moment – not what I must paint. So, three more models painted. Whenever I’m about to write the summary post like that, I feel like I’m little bit closer to completion. As long as I don’t acquire new models, the number unpainted …

Queek Headtaker of Clan Mors

After all these weeks, while I was painting anything but my beloved rats, I’m finally going back to my personal project and army – Skaven. About 3 weeks ago I was playing 5. edition battle against Dwarfs (battle report available on my blog), plus I got into Warhammer 8th edition tournament (report also here:). And that was good opportunity to paint some reinforcements to my army. First of all, I painted bases, lots of bases. All my Skaven units were based on just simple green plastic bases with no rocks, sand or grass. Just ordinary plastic. Little bit sad and pathetic, I know, but I didn’t have any time to get them done. So, with upcoming event on the horizon, finally the time has come to base all of them (120 models:), to made them look good during battle against Dwarfs and WHFB tournament. Next thing. I thought, I may use Plague Monks (in both events as well). I had these nicely black primed models from the times of 3th, 4th and 5th editions, just …

Welcome to The Old World – Warhammer Fantasy Tournament

As general rule I don’t participate in tournaments. I am little  bit fed up of the idea of winning the game at any cost. The same army list as cheesy as possible, everything must work out like in the most precise clock. I had to win no matter what. ‘Victory is life’ as Jem’Hadar used to say. Yeah, it was pretty important. I stopped to take part in tournaments, around 6th editions of WHFB, as I got little bit bored with playing the same armies, same models, using same list all over again. Thanks, but no thanks. Not any more. I took a break. I needed quite few year to change my approach to any of miniatures games. I realised that victory is not the most important factor (sorry, Jam’hadar…). Having fun is. And by having fun I mean, painting my entire army, telling the story and playing different army lists with wide diversification of models. And, believe me I never been so happy with the hobby as I am now. I paint my minis, …

Summary of Painting Fever

For the last week (more like two weeks I think) I was painting like crazy. I was painting  during every spare moment I had. Waking up early in the morning, going to sleep late night. Well, from time to time I catch this painting fever and I can’t stop. …and to be honest, I feel good with that. Almost no time for any other leisure activities, just regular work, family life and paint, paint, paint… That’s life, I tell you that. If I could repeat that cycle all over again for longer period of time, I’d not complain at all. Painting with small dose of gaming activity took over my life by storm. And I’m glad – after one year of intensive work on wide and various ranges of miniatures, I can easily say – I can’t imagine any miniature, I wouldn’t like to paint. There are always some small things in every model I see I would like to work on. And I don’t think there’s something that would discourage me to do so. …

Battle Report: Warhammer Fantasy Battle 5th Ed. – Skaven vs Dwarfs (2000 points)

Another battle report coming your way! And I’m back to The Old World and good old 5th edition of Warhammer Fantasy Battle once again. The battle – my Skaven vs Remo’s Dwarfs – 2000 points. If any of the rules, skills, magical items or simply anything is unclear, just ask. I am more than willing to answer all questions about 5th edition. This battle was really special for me. I had quite a break from WHFB in general, and even longer from Herohammer (as sometimes 5th edition is called), so it was big reunion for me. Remo came to Warsaw from Opole (300 km away) to attend to Warhammer Fantasy tournament the next day, so we grabbed this opportunity to play the battle. I was speed painting Plague Monks for entire two weeks, just to be able to use them in the battle. So, please ignore their bright green hoods – they will get proper look any time soon. I promise:) The battle took place in Bunkier Hobby Store in Warsaw. Perfect place for battles. …

Bright flame on the wind

Small break on the blog. Sorry for that. The last week was crazy busy for me. I was prepering for two events. First, good old Herohammer battle against Dwarfs and second, small tournament of WHFB 8th edition. My Skaven needed some few tweaks – bases, banners, or just simple corrections of my old painting job… …not to mentioning – whole regiment of Plague Monks were simply unpainted. Yeah, busy week… but it all turned out perfectly – I  lost all battles, but my minis did well. All painted and willing to die… sorry, fight. Reports will come to Game of Travel soon. Now, everything relaxed a little. No hurry, no deadlines, no need to paint Skaven anymore (at least for now). I can paint whatever I want. I have few ideas, but first… the model I painted right before Skaven rush. Warhammer Fantasy Bright Wizard. Part of two miniatures blister I bought some time ago. First wizard – from Amethyst Collage, you can see here. And the second – Bright Collage of Magic, painted about …

The Wight King

Few months ago I had this uncontrolled urge to buy miniature. Well, to be frank, I got this all the time 9who hasn’t? :), but now I buy miniatures I really need, or at least I think I need:). But few months ago – I was totally out of control. I saw bargains almost everywhere – and well, there were maybe steep discount, true that, but if I really needed so many Warhammer Fantasy Battle Empire models? Or this Wight King I painted last week? The answer is: I don’t have a clue:). The truth is, I really like to paint. It is recently my only leisure activity – I paint few hours a day, sometimes even longer. Sometimes, strolling across internet I stumble upon some sweet deal – I can’t resist – I imagine how cool I could paint that model and it everything else is too blurry – bid, add to the card, pay… and all of the sudden I have this Wight King in my collection, not entirely sure how I could …

Amethyst Wizard aka I’m home again!

Oh, my! I’m home again! Whatever that means, of course:) During past five years I was changing countries and cities so many times, that now It’s hard for me to find the most desirable place to live. However, Poland is the country where my friends and family live, where’s absolutely the best food in the world (Polish donuts rocks!) and if I like it or not – I pay taxes. So, let’s face it – Poland is my home, even though – I’m here for less than 6 months during the year. I arrived one week ago, and I had plenty of things over my head. Arranging new flat, getting all my stuff from my mother’s attic, getting internet connection. And one week later – here I am. Rested, willing and happy to paint and write! The break made me even more enthusiastic about all this hobby deal. So, let’s rock n roll! All is set up and ready for action. I already unpacked all miniatures I had with me in Asia. Ow, wow. There …
