Big decision…

This is going to be big step for me. For the last few months, I was working hard as part time/hobby miniatures painter. Basicly, I spend almost all my free time on painting. My wife noticed, that sometimes when I wake up at 5 AM, I go straight to my desk and paint. I do not know what happened, but painting miniatures is at the moment the best thing I can imagine to do. The best way for relax. Actually, my wife recently started to meditate, and she tried to persuade me to it as well. After few sessions I realised, painting minis calm me down/ease my thoughts ten times more than these sessions.  This is what makes me happy the most – I practically skip movies and video games at the moment. Miniatures  – nothing else matters:). …so, I came to this big decision – I start to offer commission painting services. Few folks asked me if I do it. I tend to answer – sorry, I’m not good enough or simple – do …

Malifaux again – Poltergeist and Sorrows

I’m back for good. I tell you that. Workplace fully set up – paint station, modelling corner, light box. All on one table. That’s pretty selfish of me. Taking over the only table in all studio, but…well… my wife has quite high level of understanding for my hobby, and she doesn’t mind at all. This table will be my workstation for next 7 months. We have rent contract until October 21st, 2016. For the first time, since few years, when we are back to Europe in spring, we don’t have any fixed plans for autumn/winter season. Last year we knew, we are going to Australia/Asia, but this year is big unknown. Many plans in our heads, but nothing certain. So, 7 months in one place. It means a little break from Game of Travel usual activity and time for ‘settle down’ mode. There will be more battle reports, some interviews and probably the same number of models show posts. Of course, I won’t be visiting so many cool places like during last few months, but …

Amethyst Wizard aka I’m home again!

Oh, my! I’m home again! Whatever that means, of course:) During past five years I was changing countries and cities so many times, that now It’s hard for me to find the most desirable place to live. However, Poland is the country where my friends and family live, where’s absolutely the best food in the world (Polish donuts rocks!) and if I like it or not – I pay taxes. So, let’s face it – Poland is my home, even though – I’m here for less than 6 months during the year. I arrived one week ago, and I had plenty of things over my head. Arranging new flat, getting all my stuff from my mother’s attic, getting internet connection. And one week later – here I am. Rested, willing and happy to paint and write! The break made me even more enthusiastic about all this hobby deal. So, let’s rock n roll! All is set up and ready for action. I already unpacked all miniatures I had with me in Asia. Ow, wow. There …

To Empire, or not to Empire? This is the question…

Good question indeed. …but let me explain. Few months ago I grabbed awesome bargain for some miniatures for Warhammer Empire. It’s was basicly a steal, so I couldn’t resist. I purchased then: 2 Plastic Wizards, Unit of Empire Knights and Warrior Priest. That was 100% impulse purchase. No time to think – the deal was so cheap, I had to act quick. So, I did… …and what next? Should I expand this basics to the level that I’ll have actual army? Or just paint this few minis for fun and leave them as they are. Or, on the other hand, I could sell these minis after I paint them on Ebay. So, Empire or not to Empire? To be honest, I’m not sure if I’m able to collect one more army. I’m already overworked with painting minis. Yeah, this is not a big problem, cause I like to paint. The thing is, my collection grows in little bit dangerous pace. All of the sudden, I have too many unpainted miniatures and if I don’t resist …

The Pestilens is spreading!

Oh, that was precious time in Thailand. Well, in Asia in general. I had huge doze of fun here and for sure I’m going to miss whole region – my favourite Malaysia, but also other countries. I plan to get back here, not in near future, but probably in about 2 years I want to visit this area again. Right now – destination Warsaw, Poland and I’m going to settle down there for few months. Exactly like one year before, when I got back from Central America. …but for now, I’m still in Thailand. Last 5 days. And I have few miniatures already painted, photographed and ready to be presented here. First mini from this new batch, is Skaven Plague Priest for Warhammer Fantasy Battle (how to tell a difference between WHFB and Age of Sigmar these days? It’s simple – if the base is squared – it’s WHFB, and if it’s round – it’s AoS ;P ). The model comes from the plastic kit Screaming Bell/Plague Furnace, that provides two assembling options. I’ve decided …

Game of Travel – Australian and Asian Chapter. Summary

The time has come. Next week – 15th March – I’m going back home. It was great five months, during I’ve travelled many countries, I’ve met many people and played many games, but like all good things, the travel has to end at some point. The original plan has changed a little – the idea was to end the journey in May 2016, but due to some unexpected social/family/work issues (nothing to worry about though!) we were forced to shorten our stay in Asia. So, two months before scheduled departure, I’m going back to Poland. Another chapter on my blog is ending. Time to proceed. But before I move on, I’d like to summarise my far east journey. My Journey in Numbers 5 months I left Warsaw 21st of October 2015. Flight via Doha and Singapore to Brisbane, Australia. I’m going back to Warsaw 15th march 3016. That makes almost full five months of travelling, painting miniatures and meeting gamers somewhere out there. 6 countries During that time I’ve been in six countries. I’ve started …

Reverend Moira aka what is wrong with Infinity models?

Another Infinity models is ready. This time – rather controversial miniature. Reverend Moira. Corvus Belli miniatures are kept in certain aesthetics. Some people like to see them as opposition or alternative to Games Workshop models. Well, in many ways I agree with that opinion – Infinity with all graphical concept refer to good old and very popular manga style. When you visit Corvus Belli web page or take a look inside any of books – you’ll get the idea. The future offered in Infinity is somewhat different than dark grim 41st Millennium of Warhammer. Infinity’s is rather plastic and clean. Full of  pretty girls and handsome boys. It looks little bit like pop video – where everything is so clean and shiny. Even war on distant planets;). Please, don’t get me wrong – I love Infinity miniatures. For me they are the best for making break from any of GW models. Infinity are different, but great to paint. Demanding, but rewarding. My Nomads Bakunin faction is slowly growing – many minis left to paint, and …

Lustria for Life – Skink Shaman

This one is special. Miniatures Sell/buy/swap Facebook group few weeks ago has organised painting competition and I’ve decided to participate. This is no ‘big deal’ competition, so it was clearly for me I can join in and have fun with no reason to worry if I have any chance to win it or not. The thing is I have no idea, who is in, skills of the participants or for instance that the whole competition is open – no limits, no categories. Imagination is the limit:). And this is cool, actually. No pressure for me, and since I wanted to paint Skink Shaman anyway, I could submit him. There are around 70-80 participants, so my chances to win one of the prices (gift vouchers for bitz and models) are not so big. However, one thing is certain – this competition has given me the certain boost. I have put more than usual effort to finish the mini. I have given it something extra. At least I’ve tried:). Skink Shaman is amazing model. It came from …

Wh40k Narrative Campaign – Fading Suns of Corinth Sector

March 15th. Less than 3 weeks and I’m going back home. I had awesome time in Australia ans South-East Asia, but like all good things, it has to end eventually. So, last two weeks in Thailand and off I go to Warsaw. Warsaw in March. Grey, rainy, gloomy and cold place. Oh, I’ll have plenty of reasons to complain about:). However… …in Poland I’ll have so many options to play and shops where I can buy miniatures and painting stuff. After few months of travelling, settled way of life will be a blessing for my hobby. And first order of the day has already been scheduled:). I’ve applied with my Blood Angels army to Warhammer 40000 narrative campaign organized by my friend Jan in Warsaw. Campaign starts next week but I was able to persuade the boss to count me in and play me turn a little bit later. This post is first of the series about “Fading Suns of Sector Corinth” campaign. The campaign will last for next few months and envisage at least …

Malifaux kids.

Edit (01.03.2015): I changed photos for better quality. Ok. Here I go again. For the last few weeks I have pretty good run. Since me and my wife have tons of work to do, we do not have much time to wander around (plus we are in very well known area – Koh Chang in Thailand, where we were few times before:), so any free time I have – I paint. And I paint like crazy. Of course I watch carefully for any decline of quality. Any rush in painting matter is not desirable. Patiently I’ll reach all my goals. Now, it’s the time for some Malifaux for a change;). I paint Malifaux in turns with Infinity, Wolsung and Games Workshop models, trying to shuffle between all my projects and slowly push them forward simultaneously. …and it’s time for younger generation. Malifaux children to be exact:). In Pandora “No Shelter Here” box there are several models – Pandora herself, Poltergeist, Sorrows and said children – Baby Kade and Candy. Painting them were really unique experience. …
